Showing your age now mate ;)

Also, I've never really seen live art work where it draws a crowd on it's own. I've seen VJing (hi letty) and was amazed but half the time it doesn't actually need to be live unless the experience you're creating is bespoke to the drop or the actual melody etc.

Also an idea, think about streaming your event, may not be able to do it right away depending on your club (or mobile) infrastructure but can garuntee that after a few shows people will turn up because they've witnessed it popping off (or sucking).

I'm sure everyone has their own ways of doing things to make them work, all depends on the people in your area which nobody can comment on except you after you get the ball rolling...

Lessons from running a weekly for 3 years...

- Have a budget
- Make sure you have listened to demo mixes from everyone you book
- Meet with venue to establish goals (esp for long term relationship)
- Have 1 month promo lead time
- Ensure its female friendly
- Turn up to event early to test sound system/equipment etc
- Have spare needles
- Ensure event is hosted by a facebook group, not a page, so you can message etc, invite people etc
- Make sure there are photographers (who know hwat they are doing) for promo for future events
- have cheaper cover before certain time, gets people there early, more people will enter if place looks full
- Only book acts you would personally pay to see
- Get someone you know personally to work the door, ensure you have control of the door till
- know your breakeven point, thats when you can relax!
- stay sober
- Greet everyone on the door, ensure that people remember you, make them feel welcome..
- Be really careful re MCs, a good mc can make a night, a shit one can ruin it
- try to collect contact details for people attending (ie. free ticket with rsvp or something) so you can market futuer events..
etc.
