Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Homie is reading this thread still, but he isn't answering. I don't know why. I'm really curious.

Datsik and Shirrlex are the same thing to me, commercial pop.

i find Datsiks older tunes spanking. new ones feels so over- and massproduced
but his earlier stuff is quality imo :)
agreed on skrillex tho

Doesnt matter really. The commercial side of Dubstep has reached you and thats what you are into.

To answer a lot of your questions Youtube is your friend! it will show you how to assign filter to cut off and how to make Massive patches which you will prob be starting threads for next week.

I used to be into Datsik etc, still am, but then I discovered Distance :)
Check out Distance - My demons / Distance - Delight
Now they're tunes :D

Anyway yeah, use whatever software you like the look of best. It won't matter, you'll still have to learn them. and it will take a while. Just enjoy it.

this production area seems to go to the shits with all these people thinking programs make the difference, also DO NOT EXPECT TO MAKE PROPER SONGS IN YOUR EARLY DAYS, JUST FOCUS ON LEARNING PRODUCTION IN GENERAL.

Why is this thread still not locked.. fml! I am slacking.

Look, words of advice - It'll take you between 18 months to a few years to make something worth being super proud of and longer than to be confident with yourself every time you load up your DAW, be it FL Studio, ableton, cubase, logic, protools, Dance EJay it doesn't matter...Its about using what you have and getting the most out of it.. Learn how to make music, not just dubstep just like when you apply for a job theres so many transferable skills even if you're looking to get into another industry, remember that.

Making music of any Electronic Dance Music genre has a similar premise.. Music theory (the art of actually playing and learning how to read music). Production ( The art of making everything in your track fit together, mixing down and general knowledge of how to structure your tune to make it the best it can be) and thirdly sound design; no one can get away with using the same sounds just structuring it different/playing different notes each time.. Look up synthesis and read loads of articles, do loads of tutorials and if you're serious about making music... Please, for the love of god don't think you're going to wake up one day and be a amazing producer - its a craft and a facking hard graft, even for the most naturally tallented people out there.

Theres my words of wisdom. I'm going to keep this thread open for people to discuss and help you out (and any lurkers out there) but don't post another tune for feedback out of the stickied threads or the Dubs forum..
