it's not cool to be a dubstep fan if everyone is a dubstep fan... if your scene becomes too big you get lost amongst the crowd and those sad people I mention feel like they've lost their identity.
Most rational people understand that mainstream music is mainstream because it strikes certain nerves amongst people and can discern that the dubstep scene and the mainstream dance scene are two entirely different things.

yes many mainstream pop songs take teams of musicians and writers to create. It's a team effort and every person has to play there position correctly to create the perfect production. Rather then 1 guy with a computer.mIrReN wrote:Btw Teams of musicians and writers? Oh yeah now I recall they can't even make their own music! Pre-made ftw
Just saying the music sucks ain't hating btw, that's called opinions.
saying all music to ever make radio sucks definitely shows clear signs of haterism.mIrReN wrote:Just saying the music sucks ain't hating btw, that's called opinions.
So what if people "hate" what the mainstream plays? Does it make a different to the mainstream, not really. Is it such a problem for people to like what "one guy with a computer" makes than the mainstream "teams of talented musicians" can create? This topic seems pointless.DannyLifted wrote:yes many mainstream pop songs take teams of musicians and writers to create. not at all. I usually prefer the music that one guy with a computer makes too. But I still respect the skill and talent level that goes into creating a hit songTerminate wrote:So what if people "hate" what the mainstream plays? the only issue, at least imo, is that the particular sound/style becomes exclusively synonymous with 'dubstep'. i've come across people who, when i mention the word 'dubstep', what comes to mind is midrange tearout.garethom wrote:
Some people just don't like that sound. Why is it an issue?

Oh definitely. More than once I've had to listen to people slating dubstep because all they've heard is the tear-out, jump-up stuff.skitz_0 wrote:the only issue, at least imo, is that the particular sound/style becomes exclusively synonymous with 'dubstep'. i've come across people who, when i mention the word 'dubstep', what comes to mind is midrange tearout.garethom wrote:

sure, some people will gravitate to it and may find that it isn't the original sound. but a lot of people are turned off by it, and thus may never really be exposed to the material that has more sub-bass emphasis.
im talking about the people that are against anything "Popular" in general. There's also a lot of people that can't accept different people have different tastes. Just because somebody doesn't like a "mainstream" track, doesn't mean they only dislike it to feel superior.
I don't like the more brosteppy sound in general, because I think it sounds horrible. Levels of popularity won't change that.

This guy said it best ^^. All genre's of music have these types of people but dubstep is littered with them. OF COURSE not everyone that listens to dubstep has that mentality. But that mentality is a common one amongst hardcore dubstep listeners. Like if it isn't TRUE dubstep by there standards and is only known amongst them and there little niche market then its SHIT. no matter what. And god forbid one of there "True dubstep" niche artists starts going "mainstream" now all of a sudden its called a new sub-genre and it's not cool to listen to anymorepkay wrote:sad people use their taste in music to define them as a person making them far too personally invested in music made by someone else
