Fair point. But surely you can still call someone out as being a bit of a dick though.

stereotypes only come about for one reason ;)

if you dont want to be stereotyped, do something to change it. i rather like the show and their "racial" remarks, gives for a good laugh. everyone is too soft these days, i've been taught to not give a damn about what people SAY..only what people DO to YOU.

It's everyone's battle.

You need everyone to work together to fight racism. If you go "Oh, he's white, he shouldn't be arguing about racism" then it's just another instance of racism.

I've never experienced starvation or war but that doesn't mean I should just sit there and think "Never happened to me so better not do anything".

"I've never experienced a heart attack, better not talk about it or give money to charity for it."

No

What I meant was that no-one has spoken out so much to my knowledge who is of Mexican descent. I don't know how offensive it would be. Being that I'm white. That's all I meant.

I still think they were being dicks and pretty racist. Which is why I went on to say that you should still be able to call someone out if they're being a dick. Which is what Coogan is doing

First I heard of it. To be honest till this thread I didn't realise people were that pissed over it.

I think it's just being used as an excuse for everyone to vent their completely understandable anger at Clarkson and everything he represents.

lol as a comedian I am quite sure Steve Coogan is perfectly qualified to speak about how funny or unfunny certain 'jokes' are tbf
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.

Yeah he is a comedian. But he ain't no mexican. He seems to be offended by what they have said...but why? Because he likes to think himself as some sort of good person who is not rascist and he must show this by his statements. Seems silly considering all white people have that deep inside feeling of superiority over other races. Althought not one white man will admit it...Will you?

Nothing particular wrong with using stereotypes as jokes, as long as you can tell they arent being used in malicious ways. I havent seen that bit in Top Gear but Clarkson does strike me as someone who would use racial jokes for the wrong reasons.
