no, you sell items to other players for real life cash.Capture pt wrote:how the hell does that work? you sell items for money? surely that would bankrupt blizzard as you can find items purely by playing?
i dont get.
diablo is a game based around the fact that gear drops randomly. in order to get good gear, you used to have to spend time grinding away until you get that item you wanted. now people with money can just buy whatever they want, and it completely unbalances the entire game. and yes, diablo ii had some great mods.epochalypso wrote:Phigure wrote:lol fuck diablo iii... connection required to play, selling items for real life cash, no mods, etc. it's already dead before its release.epochalypso wrote:Diablo IIIpredictable. Lol @ people hating on it before beta's even out![]()

yeah you're right but people were already doing it on ebay or places like that,so blizzard must have thought fuck it lets make money on this..I'm pretty sure they will take a percentage of every transaction..Phigure wrote:no, you sell items to other players for real life cash.Capture pt wrote:how the hell does that work? you sell items for money? surely that would bankrupt blizzard as you can find items purely by playing?

I dont mean to sound snobbish/elitist, but in the upper/nerdier circles of d2 this kind of trading went on anyways. d2jsp.org is/was a site where you could buy forum gold (lol) for real cash and trade for runs/items. Had tens of thousands of users and still does, now that I opened the page again. Idk sounds like blizzard is trying to prevent that or get their own fingers in itPhigure wrote:no, you sell items to other players for real life cash.Capture pt wrote:how the hell does that work? you sell items for money? surely that would bankrupt blizzard as you can find items purely by playing?

It's true: in two hours and change, Sam Bernstein, a member of Bethesda's QA team, managed to reach the end of the main campaign in Skyrim. Sam's time was 2:16:10, a mere 20 seconds faster than his competition, level designer Jeff Browne. The two are actually no stranger to the Bethesda speed run circuit, having participated in a similar event a few years ago in Fallout 3, in which Sam was also victorious.
meh, this guy completed morrowind in 7 minutes and 30 seconds.pkay wrote:Further proof of my theory, Skyrim can be beaten in 2hrs

BUT HEY ITS GOT LOTS OF SIDE QUESTS RITE?!?!??!
You're an idiot if you think this kind of game is about beating the main quest. You could beat the old mario games in like 10 minutes too.pkay wrote:I beat 4 in one sitting and promptly returned it to best buy saying it didn't work on my xbox and got a refund.

Sigh never mind not going to try to explain gaming to you.
Zzzzz you completely misunderstand the Elder Scrolls series. It's about a massive, immersive, beautiful world where YOU decide what you want to do. You just have no imagination.pkay wrote:Kodachrome wrote:You're an idiot if you think this kind of game is about beating the main quest. The original mario games didnt have a multi million dollar budget with a dozen people holding the title of 'writer' on their team.
I wrote a paper on 'hours of gameplay' in game design 3 my junior year. This all got out of hand with FFVII. After FFVII everyone always began to compare how many hours of gameplay a game gave you... but FFVII had an epic main story, and a small amount of epic side stories (gold chocobo, weapon, knights of the round). You remember every side quest of FFVII as vividly as you remember Red XIII's storyline or Cat Shits storyline. All epic in their own right.
Delivering a mediocre main storyline, and then providing a litany of less than stellar writing for side quests is somehow rewarded in 2011? Or are we just doing the side quest filler to say OVER 100 HOURS OF GAMEPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I found a lot of the Oblivion side quests to be very well written, especially the Guild quests.pkay wrote:Kodachrome wrote:You're an idiot if you think this kind of game is about beating the main quest. Just got an email telling me that my copy has been shipped. Fingers crossed it'll come early.kruptah wrote:Game comes out on Friday. I'll be picking it up early in the day as I don't have class that day.
I'm wondering what race other Ninja's here will be creating?
I was thinking I'd play one of the beast classes but Nord really does seem to be the appropriate class based on the location and lore of this game.aspect-dubz wrote:Just got an email telling me that my copy has been shipped.
