This + more effects = creative problem solved.

I like to use sweeps of all kinds with the first eq to evolve sound over time and do your normal mixdown shit with the second. its better to keep them separate so you can go mad crazy with one then tame and fit it in the mix with the other. trying to mixs these 2 eq uses in one eq normally goes wrong and u can lose focus of what u want to do.

so i wanted to see 2 eqs on all ur channels from now on
Your right, if I want to be cool and creative I'll do what somebody else tells me from now on. My brain is just a peice of shit anyways.

cum on g sort it out. i dont think most of you kno like the basic way they do stuff in pro studios

u send all ur drums to a bus with the dual compressors u got to kno how to set them up* followed by a smily eq then use a send for ur verb this is how all them producers are doing their drums they just dont want u to kno

*with the 2 compressors u give the first 1 a long attack to let them peaks through and set the threshold low ratio high, release set to how you want it. with the second one all u want to do is murder them peaks set the threshold a little lower than the first ratio as high as it goes and quick attack and release. for the second one u want to use the dirty compressor u got

dont be silly eq's and compressor's are some of the most powerful things u got. so why just use one on every channel

Dood, honestly I don't know. People a little bit beefy. OP was fairly ridiculous. Sometimes when I've got simple shit to say, I work on finding the longest way to say it, because, you know, that's how I am. I don't think it's anything revolutionary op said. In all honesty if you aren't using eq creatively, you're missing the fuck out. Yeah filters do the job, a job. But if you've got spectrally rich audio going into an eq, a few dips and boosts are going to get you places a simple highpass with rez will not.

Anyway, who is op? Likely I hate this motherfucker from a previous incarnation?

you have just admitted your own thread was pointless then, why inform us of a technique that has been used for fucking years and is used on a shitload of tracks anyone who has studied production knows about, making out it was a fresh nugget of ingenious production shit fired from your arse, when infact it was a stale dangleberry that has been around for years.

I'll answer that, (as author of many stale dangleberrys myself) often it's beneficial to reiterate the obvious. There are so many production techniques, and little tricks on how to do this or that... Over the years, I've learned the same thing like 3 times... I learn it, use it, learn something else, kind of forget about it, discover it again, oh this is the shit!, use it, learn something else, forget about it, read a post on dsf, hey you can do this obvious thing, oh shit, forgot about that.

Also, there are producers on dsf that are at varying stages of experience. To some, this simple idea may be fresh, and really add to their arsenal of techniques.

I can't fault anyone for trying to share their knowledge, even if it is simplistic. If they do so with arrogance, yeah, fuck that, but I don't think that was the case here, just a little jive, which all things considered isn't so bad.

Yeah i used to think the same thing. About 2 years ago when i was just starting to get into digital production. Now i just use eq purely for corrective purposes; only if i need to separate instruments in the same frequency range / roll off stray frequencies.

i hope in the next "knowledge nugget" you tell me how to make a Skrillex bass

I'll use a corrective EQ before and after an effect or effects chain. So I guess that's more than one EQ. But I certainly don't use an EQ sweep for creative purposes. That is, of course, unless I want to fuck up my mix or kill peoples ears. Which could be fun -- I'm not judging.

yeahh same as that, most of the time i'll have 2 eqs set up, one for straight out the synth/sampler, and one for after all of the effects...but 90% of the time those two eqs will be doing pretty much the same thing.

Lol this fellow actually offers legit advice on serial compression but in the trolliest manner i've ever seen.
I'll reach for a transparent compressor first to emphasize transients/lighten the workload, but use one with a bit of character second... I'm liking the UAD Fairchild for the latter
