fixed my pc and got started.. this is actually more entertaining than i thought it would be, even though i am essentially making a (bad) orchestral film score
what are we doing with the finished tunes?

Re: Writing from a brief : 001
Im just wacking them on a bandcamp and gunna post it around to various blogs and stuff after each series, unless certain people don't want their track on the album.

This sounds WICKED. Fuck competitions, people need to get back to making tunes for the sake of it imo (myself in particular)
Deadline's 3 days before my birthday. Looking forward to this!

Done...
Although, probably not what people are expecting.

Figured I'd pass on the standard dissonant sounds associated with distopian atmospheres and pass on the typical hanz zimmer style action sequence in favor of concentrating on what I imagine the subtext of a movie like this would be about, i.e., hope for a better future, perseverance, romantic and politically charged ideas of the few changing a larger society, redemption,...etc, and went for something a bit more melancholic but hopefully inspiring.
Didn't use the full 6 minutes, figured I'd presented everything I wanted to present, didn't want to cram it up with filler material, didn't see any lower limit in the rules, so hopefully that's not a problem.
Also, this thread is a winrar idea legend4ry. Props for starting it up.

Just because you are a character, does not mean you have character.
Re: Writing from a brief : 001
This is awesome!
Reading through the description alone got some melodic juices flowing for me.
If anyone's familiar with a little heavier music, I had the chord progressions from the beginning of Suicide Silence's "And Then She Bled" running through my head.
Would love to make something with similar moods to this, minus the sample of the 911 call for the lady whose face was ripped off by an ape.

that is really fucking cool!

Haha yeah I guess for some reason the lady chose to release the tape.kaiori breathe wrote:...how strangely poignantAtac wrote:This is awesome!

It was some lady who had a huge pet chimp and her friend. I guess the chimp snapped and literally tore the friend's face off. The tape is pretty hard to listen to since you can hear the lady screaming and the rabid chimp in the background. The lady survived and has done interviews since. From what I remember she basically has an awkward patch of flesh where her face used to be. Pretty sad to be honest.
All tragedy aside, the song (an instrumental) was pretty cool. Gave off some interesting vibes and what not.
