I don't know how old this thread is.
Saves CPU and lets you see the waveform. That's about it really.
And edit it. Downloaders might not have the synths and effects he used.

To bounce to audio, you can right-click the track and "freeze" then "flatten."

Since you're the expert here, i'm trying to get how he made the synth in "Get in the Cart, Pig". My guess is he has a delay one ms before the next pluck hit, but i have no idea how you would implement that so i figured it might be a cubase thing.

If you are referring to what I think you are,
I was curious about it as well and the only conclusion I could come to was bouncing the delay and manually moving it to play before the attack of the main note, if that makes sense?
I really don't know though, that's just a guess. Only other possibility is could imagine is bouncing the synth line with short delays after and reversing and nudging into place.

it works when i set it to manual ms, but it's kinda confusing because as he changes the tempo, the delay moves along with it. It's really really weird.

In FL you can set track delay/(whatever the opposite for delay is) for a whole mixer channel, I'm sure Ableton can do the same. Just route the delay to a separate channel and it'll move along with the tempo.

Haven't heard the track though so dunno what you're talking about.

Fuck me, that track is huge, how have I not heard it before?

Yeah see what you mean, I still think that it could be done with a delay on a separate channel set to a couple milliseconds minus delay so it plays before the sound though. Although that sound was way too complex for my brain to fully grasp, haha. Was getting tired of Deadmau5 for a while there but this was actually really good.

That songs on his new album (it's called F'n Pig now). I actually made this noise once by accident playing with delays - well actually more like a similar noise in "Cthulu Sleeps", although I never saved the sound or file. From what I remember doing it was an ultra short delay on a pluck with very short attack with reverb to accentuate.

the album version sounds better. anyway i wasn't aware it was possible to have a delay happen before the initial attack of the note. is this possible in ableton? i've been wanting to know for a while. as i suggested before you could always record the delay happening after the note strikes in the traditional way and manually move it yourself and blend. it wouldn't be difficult I don't think, but if a VST is capable of producing that result I'd rather go that route

When I did it I had the delay after, but like I said I was doing the Cthulu Sleeps one - although I'm not sure you need the delay before hmmm... idk.

Well no, what i'm saying is that you delay a note to have the delay hit right before the note that follows. I'm also pretty certain that that's what 's happening here, since the notes kinda get all mushed together as it progresses. But what boggles my mind then is how he modulates this effect in time as he raises and lowers the tempo.

well to me anyway, it sounds like several different extremely short delays happen in succession directly before the actual attack of the note being played. almost like a washboard or something. makes me think of a raking sound. but either way im almost positive the delays or whatever he used to obtain that, are happening before the note.

I could see how that would be possible except when it first starts, the time between notes is pretty long and I am not aware of any delay technique that could achieve that. so yo're saying the note plays then X amount of time goes by, it delays, then instantly after the next note plays? giving it the illusion of a pre delay?

In terms of tempo change, surely you could just sync the delay to the host tempo?

ya absolutely, that still doesn't explain how the delays are happening before the not being played though. I think the whole thing was done in reverse. if you just play the progression backwards and have the delays happen after note , then bounce it and reverse, it should sound exactly like what you are hearing in that song.

Well my technique could work if you modulated the delay along with it, yes. But then you would need a delay vst that allows the delay change to be modulated without affecting the pitch.

have you ever used audio damage replicant?
It can make that exact delay sound. It uses delay, with randomize features on delay time, direction (reverse or regular) cutoff etc. Used subtly, it can produce the exact sound that he uses here.

check the bottom example IDM craziness or whatever its called. some delays in it that sound like they are what you are after.

I didn't hear the effect you're describing, but you can either bounce the audio of the delay signal down and shift it back manually, or move the original signal forward, send that to a wet delay and also send it to a wet slapback delay delay.

I'm kind of assuming the delay sound feeds back in the usual direction, other wise yeah it was reversed, delayed, reversed.
