Stereo Wide Bass Trick

I hate the fact that all of the clubs people seem to go to are so fucking shit that they can't even get a stereo system.
All but the tiniest clubs I know run in proper stereo...

duplicate the track and zoom right in and delay one by a few hundred samples, then pan hard left and right.

could you theoretically do this multiple times i wonder, or would you encounter serious phasing.

phase (or shouldnt we all say polarity) cancellation is a complex issue, it depends on a lot of parameters, you could do this only once and encounter very serious comb filtering...

there was a relevant thought pushed by Bob Katz in the chapter to his MasteringAudio book. i vaguely recall that it went something like (regarding stereo, the Haas effect and mono compatibility) : the more complex the delays and stereo techniques you use and the more independently they evolve on each side... the less likely they are to cancel when summed to mono...

best thing is really to switch to mono...
