Pretty painful. I've never been to sure when someone decides to create a genre for themselves/pigeon hole their music.

I'll stick with the old stuff.

You can say what you want about his music mate... But he is not the first to coin it as "Future Jungle"

Ever noticed how the people who pour the most energy into 'subgenres' are the ones who are opposed to them? o.O If it's all about the music, why do you spend time arguing about how 'pointless' subgenres are instead of simply listening to the music and not giving a fuck what other people are calling it?

Agreed. Skream's "Epic Last Song" is just that.

not to mention burning up, listening to the records on my wall, bentons sax shaker, dark skys something to lose...
all a similiar sorta tip. i love it personally, and its a pleasure to mix!! :Q:

Killawatt wrote:Jungle developed out of essentially boredem of the standard 4X4 and breakbeats of the early nineties. the beats were scattier and destandardised and a lot of people couldnt cope with it so if you take that as the original inspiration for 'jungle' then you have to follow that root
:W:

One thing that's noticeable about those Fresh tunes is that they've still got the trancey linear structure with riffs and obvious breakdowns and looping beats without the manic start-stop thing and messed up disruption that made classic jungle so insanely genius.

(Also they're still loaded with bobbins midrangey reece basses.)

There are better places to go for oldskool vibes, imo - Inperspective / Technicality / Scientific Wax is another branch that have got something going on.

Hmm, yeah, okay, I'll give him that one. And credit where it's due I'll give him this one too:

But that album he released and this EP and most of the stuff he's done since BC is fucking atrocious.

What's even worse is he's calling it Jungle (I don't care for the future part). Jungle is the finest music ever to grace god's green earth. Not that shite.
