except for that flight 83 (?) that went down in the middle of a field, that was blatantly shot down. the rest is all balls though.

it's for comfort's sake more than anything else, isn't it? it's far less scary to imagine that your government - who could possibly be removed from power by legal means (or at least made to answer for their crimes after their term is up) if enough evidence came to light - is the enemy, rather than an ever-increasing percentage of the world's population that hates you so much they're willing to kill themselves, anyone who is the same nationality as you and anyone who looks like they're the same nationality as you just to make a political statement
