Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?

With regard to the thread possibly becoming unorganized, or a mess, it wouldn't be too hard for mods to delete the odd post now and again, assuming somebody did post spam.

I suppose it would be to cluttered if a mod posted the info on the op like they did for the aim list?
Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
Perfectly do-able. Could even edit the list in the OP so that each users could be listed under which DAW they use, and their names could be hyperlinks to move directly to their post.Iorek wrote:this.nnny wrote: Only a persons details should be posted in the thread, then leave it at that, all contact and conversation done via PM. Maybe.

This is a great idea. I'm on board.

People looking for a collaboration could then read through, and PM people whom they liked the sound of and would like to produce with. Like a 'seeking casual relationships' section, but with sub bass.
Thoughts?

Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
cool, however posting current work is a must imo
Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
Be a lot of work for the op but I think it's a great plan.wub wrote:Perfectly do-able. So, criteria so far would be;
DAW
Location
Collaboration type (online/IRL)
Years of experience
Example of work (thinking this would work best as a Soundcloud link, as multiple soundcloud waveforms would mean the thread taking longer and longer to load)
Musical Influences (can be both in dubstep and outside)
Anything else that I've missed that might be useful?

Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
Something I just thought of there. What about people who use specific plug-ins?
Maybe part of the critera should include whether you would like to use plugins (with a list) or use whatever comes default with the persons DAW of choice.
Thoughts?
And with regard to it being a lot of work for the OP, if wub or whoever wants to do it, thats cool, but I'm here if need be

Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
Firstly that's a good point. Could be worth including what plug-ins you usually use.
I think the OP would have to be a mod though. Cos us lot don't have the power to delete other peoples posts if it gets spammed up.

Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
Thats true mate. I wouldn't have minding creating the thread, and if it was to work this way, update it with peoples details, organize it etc, but ideally it would be best if a mod was to do it. Was throwing the offer out there, because theres not many other ways I can help out within the community, I don't have the experience necessary to answer a lot of questionsparavrais wrote:Firstly that's a good point. Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
I like this idea. I think having a default list of preferences is good for each user, DAW, influences, current work, etc.
Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
for sure wub! to be honest I'm a little surprised it took this long for this topic to be made
I'm about average so far when it comes to production so I would love to get other people's insights and tricks they use when producing to help me out a bit. the criteria so far seems good too. in regards to plug-ins though I think it would be nice to know what they use, but if you're gonna be sending wav's back and forth I don't see it as being that big of a deal. if we decide to put it in the criteria though it works with me

Re: Would a collaboration sticky thread be of use to anyone?
I agree that a sticky thread would be of use to me and other people. As for myself, I use Ableton Live Suite and only the native effects and Operator. I'll post up some examples soon. If anyone wants to do a collab check out soundcloud.com/eldoogle. You can judge how good I am from that.
