I just dont get the whole tricks on bikes things. It just feels like a less weildly form of skateboarding. I dont see what benefits it has over it? Just seems harder, and with a much bigger potential for proper fucking yourself. Then the whole ego trip of "i was the first man to..." can go fuck itself. Thats not just bmxing or whatever though...

I dunno, I mean, im sure it would be fun to cane it down a mountain on a bike or something, but I just dont see why someone would get into learning to do tricks on a bike...its just clearly a mode of transport rather than something built for fucking around on no? Skateboard you fall off and you hit the ground hard, bmx you fall off and theres a fuck load of pointy things waiting to deliver some blunt trauma to various organs. Seems like skateboarding but with an added wannabe matchoness.

...I understand this would be very annoying to read as a bmxer or something, but its logical no?

as a skateboarder, id be inclined to disagree, people do tricks on a bike because its fun, and challenging!

i can see why people would dig it, but it just seems...more dangerous and harder? I dunno, neither of those things are a turn on to me. 2 people i know growing up have perma-fucked their shoulders bmxing, and its just like well...sweet. No more bmxing, sport or just about anything that involves much shoulder action again. Hence why it just seems a macho thing to me to add extra danger for the sake of it. I dunno, im probably just a pussy, but I quite like my body. I mean, you could easily munchfuck a knee or something on a bmx. Then what, no more standing up for more than an hour or two at a music night? I dunno, priorities i guess...but mine is my body > challenging myself with extra danger.

oh, and youve got to agree that the man doing a frontflip on a snowski or whatever can go fuck himself, right?

thats just fucking mental. i do agree.
but im pretty sure they dont do it for the "machoness"
they just do it because they love it, regardless of whether it could kill them of not.

ah yeah for real, not saying people having fun on a bike is a machoness thing, its just that first choice of bmxing over, i dunno, skateboarding...or just running around and jumping off high places or something. I just dont see what its got over skateboarding etc. but i do see pointy handlebars hurting ribs. I guess alot of kids will have some kind of bike growing up, natural to start fucking around with it. Then i guess if youve been doing it for a while youre not going to want to go back to square one on a skateboard or something. Whats the world coming to, young teenagers not thinking of the health and safety implications of their chosen leisure activity. Pfft.

oh, but i do think the people doing crazier things to get noticed is just some lame money/ego thing. Just seeing the reaction of the guy who did the snowski thing, it looks the inner monolgue there is "fuck yeah, im the man, im the man".

I've not been following any extreme sports for years, so it is mental what folk are capable of now. I remember seeing carey hart do the first backflip and thinking, this is as good as it will get

Anyway, downhill anyone?

I know some folk might not get this but anyone who knows anything about time trial sport will know a 6 second gap is amazing...

I almost cried when i saw Sam wash out :( He's unbelievable...

Aye i've seen that before, that dog that ran out at the start... could have ended poorly.

Yeah i went to an urban downhill event in 2008 in Edinburgh, some of it is mental.
