That's whats important. I got into the good stuff and learned to love it by being first introduced to skrillex and that heavy dubstep sound, which I still like but not all of it. I woke up and realised the old stuff is better when high.Akira wrote:Hopefully as the scene expands, be it through the over commercialisation or whatever it increases the chance that people will be turned onto the brilliant music by the likes of mala, loefah, burial, quest , silkie etccc.
If there is no subbass then it is not dubstep?

So what if you don't like the music with no sub bass or whatever. I'm not a fan of folk or indie. It's different and other people like it. Don't cry because the label 'dubstep' is being tarnished. Its a new genre you can't complain. Most people including myself have never heard of it before the likes of skrillex was shown to me. Music is beyond genre. When I used to listen to metal I didn't complain that the label 'metal' or 'screamo' was used to describe all kinds of metal music even the more gay stuff that was not my taste or in my opinion metal.

Is a genre that's been around for about 10 years new?Lethal Dosage wrote:Its a new genre you can't complain.

Im not crying, im just saying its not very sonically pleasing, in terms of the sound spectrum its pretty extreme and its hurtful. and its not a new genre.....jesus christ..Lethal Dosage wrote:Don't cry because the label 'dubstep' is being tarnished. Its a new genre you can't complain.

Yes, it needs a sub, and yes it can have both a mid-range bass sound and a sub at the same time. Stay open-minded and listen to new music as well. But if you want to get away from a lot of mid-range sounds, try a bit of 130-138 bpm bass instead? You might need to look a little harder for the great music though, but people are still making it.

Re: If there is no subbass then it is not dubstep?
sub + 'midrange cack' as some folks put it, is the way forward, for me not dubstep' so yea sub is a huge part of dubstep
why all the hate on the brostep? jus coz you dont like it that makes it wrong and shit? naw mate....dubstep has gone mainstream now deal with it, ppl like me are makin this disgustingly horrible bass music for the same reason heavy metal progressed into what it is...well was...to stay away from the mainstream and it just sounds so nice to someone like me

I beg to differ here. I think you're mistaking the hate on brostep for a hate on mainstream music. The Vision was uploaded on UKF and got more than 800 000 hits. Everyone here will agree it's a good tune though. Same goes for the remix Distance made for Jess Mils, around 500 000 hits. When a tune sounds like shit, it sounds like shit no matter how mainstream or underground it is. If good, bassy dubstep like Joker and Distance gets pushed by platforms like UKF I will be more than happy with it. But these are the 2 only good tunes I've ever heard coming from that channel, even though I do hope there's more to comeMetabolic wrote:dubstep has gone mainstream now deal with it,
