MY SELECTAH!!

thats a tune

but out of curiosity, as a dj when you play this as your first tune, and considering its 10+ minutes long, what was the kind of mix you'd do??

i cant help but think if i played this i'd stand around twiddling my thumbs for 6minutes before doing anything!

Quality tune innit, techno can still be the best music in the world when it pulls its shit together!

And yeah- figure its always a good plan to have a long opener just in case you need time to figure out the set up of the club....but if the set up is as it should be I wouldn't usually let an opening tune like that play out for too long, perhaps not even letting the beat drop properly- cut the bass and let the highs play in a long mix as you bring the next thing in, 130ish so works well with a lot of stuff....bring it back in half an hour later!

Reminds me of this for looped amazingness:

So much great stuff in this thread!

For me it varies a lot, but I find myself using this one a lot:

Also, V.I.V.E.K. - Feel It / The Big Bang / Eyes Down. There's a kind of epic feel about everything he makes.

meh, everyones stuff is so standard. no imagination.

i used to start jungle sets with either shaggy - mr boombastic or le tigre - descepticon. you need to bring something a little different to let the people know youve arrived!!

You clearly havent listened to some of the tunes listed! I would place the ghost in the shell intro so, so far above Mr Boombastic :P

On that note ive got a few that ive rinsed to death to be honest. 1 is (as you say, fairly standard :D ) which is Ruckspin, Quark & Planas - Miserere

That drop sounds so, so good on a big rig. Stand up and pay attention stuff. (Although I always mix out before the second drop, too hype for a first tune)

Otherwise im often playing just straight ambient-ish sets. As such have regularly opened with Martyns dark mix of Efdemyn's Acid bells, or my absoloute favourite which is Flying High by The Irresistable Force (an old moniker of mixmaster morris I believe?)

My faves anyhoo...
