mixing time signitures can get some cool results, like using a 3/4 bassline over 4/4 drums.
and as wub mentioned prog rock bands are a good place to look for time signature inspiration.

To those who say 3/4 isnt DJ friendly... They are quantized the same, it matches the same, you just have to be alot more creative with phrasing.
This comes back to the issue that alot of DJ's these days cant mix things that arent in the same 4/4 32-bar style... People need to get into mixing funk/swing/jazz.

working on a track now that's in 3/4, had the idea for it whilst watching godspeed you black emperor. got quite a steppa feel to it.
