They're just great. Warlord, Your Girl Smells Chung, The Throning, William Shotgun Sprayer and their Dior EP must be my favourites.
Perfect music for summer nights. I reaaaally should've gone see 'em when I had the chance a few months ago. :u:

Very weird, I also agree that they don't strike me as fitting with Hyperdub. Only track I liked was Girl Smells Chung, everything else just didn't grab me at all.

people, people.... in what way do hype williams not fit the sound and ethos of hyperdub?

they've released loads of stuff that sounds a bit like hype williams (as close as anyone else can get), it's trippy, weird, and very hyperdub!

ie. if the spaceape did the vox on that badmind track, it could almost be a k9 tune.

Everytime I listen to Hype Williams...I like them even more

That Sade re-work they did...fantastic - shows us a beautiful difference

This may seem a bit out of left field but...

When I first heard Sine of the Dub in a mixed tape...somewhere long time ago
I thought - this Kode 9 and Spaceape person is doing something different than the rest of the selections on the tape...

I knew it was coming from more of an experimental place - spoken word is what I was thinking...obvious right
but it worked well with the - I don't want to say dance floor
- more standard dubstep - the dark meditative stuff

So the Hype Williams on Hyperdub isn't really that surprizing or out of kilter in my mind.

it's hyperdub when the rhythms drop out

I'm not gonna lie though...I did have to adjust my head to it - to them - Hype Williams

It's like a gear shift...a downshift into neutral

But you know - the last couple of Cooly G mixes for the Boilerroom were really far out there
- She has really been pushing the sound to the subconscious...

I definatly get the Landscapes thing...pale early morning landscapes

or maybe not...maybe soft lights in the dark

That's why I'm paying attention to Kode 9 - He's up to something...some deviousness

Did I just call them atmospheric? :|

I didn't mean that they are without rhythm...

I mean't that their music isn't altogether rhythmcentric...

Their work is very melodic.

They have a unique style, it's really compelling, wicked awesome sound, kinda sloppy, and messy but not distorted and un clear, they clearly have good incentive to play their guts out, I dig the live hardware feel of the tunes, I'd like to see them rock a boiler room set.

Thats not the Hype Williams they're talking about :cornlol:
Gotta say it's a spaz name choice as I'm sure a fuck load of people in this 'scene' will know the original Hype Williams for his absolutely world class work.
