most of my day is spent listening to downtempo and/or dub. SomaFM to the rescue...

other than dnb and dubstep, I spend a fair amount of time listening to deep house, r&b, or pretty much anything else I consider "soulful".

lots of hip hip, immortal technique, jedi mind tricks, black market militia, de la soul, mos def, cannibal ox, mf doom, dj shadow, rjd2, danny breaks, prefuse73. and then some electronica, boards of canada, casino versus japan, apparat, plaid. rest of the time it's dnb, paradox and fam, teebee and k, klute, noisia, mayhem, phace, most of the neurofunk clan

been getting into jazz real slowly too, starting with miles. pure genius

soul, funk, disco, jazz, garage, house, uk garage, hip hop, jungle/dnb, dancehall, dub, sixties psychedelic and more!

here's some of my favourite albums at the moment:

gil scott heron & brian jackson - winter in america - strata east
 so much soul go in the compositions and a very well constructed conceptual album. The electric piano will echo in your mind for days after listening to this piece of art.

24k black - ghetto: misfortunes & wealth - stax
 ghetto soul poetry with a touching deepness from one of the lesser known stax stalwarts. Stand out album and known for the sample taken from 'mother's day' as used in Nas' 'Nas is Coming'

john abercrombie - timeless - ecm
 proof of why ECM is one of the best european jazz labels. This features drum virtuoso Jack DeJohnette and Jan Hammer on the keys.

cannonball adderly - soul zodiac - capitol
 crazy ass album by crazy ass cannonball. One of true cross over jazz albums which had various incarnations. This is the Soul one with some pretty 'out there' soul!

jimi hendrix - axis: bold as love - Yaneto/Sea Lark/Reprise
 sound track of my teenage psychedelic trip in the eighties...need I say more
The track Fly On Little Wing has new meaning with fatherhood an' all..
