"Would you listen to dubstep after seeing this video?" ..."Yeah, if it's on the radio."

This is why most of society in America is so shallow, and nonintellectual. They just take what's given to them and don't strive to learn more or dig deeper. The best things always come with research and hard work. Music is the same. Unless you have a friend who likes awesome music :)

that was the answer of a ten year old, jeez get off your high horse. blame the people, who actually produce this shit, but not kids, who dont even know what they're doing. they're not responisble for anything you hate about the scene/music!

Agreed, but looking at the people that I know in my area, that statement holds pretty true. People choose to listen to the radio and become interested in the dumbed down, non-thought-provoking, mainstream bullshit that makes up 90% of the American music industry today. Sure, it came from a 10 year-old's mouth, but think that when it comes to music, a lot of the people I know have the same mentality when it comes to music. It's kind of what inspired me to start mixing music. I think my taste is better than theirs, so it's my job to share the wealth :W:

yea this. the way the average person consumes music in this country is truly fucked.

Not everybody is as interested in music as we are. Not everybody wants to sit on music sites for hours a day digging for new stuff like I do  Some people are happy just to be handed stuff on a plate. I bet the people that just listen to the stuff on the radio have deeper interest in some subject areas than you do, and I bet they consider that just as valid as you do music. Not worth getting hung up on.

yea i know... its still sad. the music that comes on the radio at work actually makes me feel uncomfortable. seriously.

like lady gaga comes on singing about getting too drunk then making out with dudes and forgetting abt it, giving men reasons to take her home tonight etcetc while a father and his ten yr old daughter are at the counter... i feel like i should apologize for the smutty music... but everyone seems to like it. do not get how people just eat this stuff up.

exactly. you lot have to realise that you and your attitude towards music/scene is not a sacrament, which defines everything on earth.
