lol nu rave term was 'invented' when a journo was interviewing james (klaxons) and he said its a 'new wave of uk music'.the journo said 'new rave'? and james said yeah if u like...

grime kinda was grime before ppl called it grime..'dilemma' and a lot of tunes were grimy,like ud hear it and go 'rahh thats grimy'.
any style of music can be grimy.

Isn't nu rave just really shitly played indie with a few stupid sirens, horns and really shit loud discordant synth/s over the top? With a few twats standing around wearing flurescent trucker hats with shit multi-coloured writing all over them, drainpipe jeans and power cables for belts, going "It was so cool the other day I was buying drugs in Bethnal green when a gang of rude boys, like jacked me, I just went to the cashpoint again but I felt so street maaan" Nu rave and the Klaxons is the closest thing to Nathan Barley that has ever happened in relaity, apart from Vice magazine.

not feeling it, sounds like a forced attempt of bringing more nme/indie hype to the scene too me...
really loving the new skream beatz but i'm not rating this remix that much. that synth and that cheesy vocals almost make my ears bleed... and i like my cheese...

I thought the Klaxons were shit when i first heard their cover of Kicks like a Mule but having since seen them live twice I think they are really fuckin good. They don't deserve a lot of the stick they get.

I got mates who still rubbish them. I know fully that they ain't even bothered listening to any more than one track of theirs...

Not sure about the skreamix though...maybe its a grower...?

yeh i agree, do u reckon the label approached him to do it? or was it just something he felt to do off his own back?
i think the tunes ok still, i think the best tune on that essential mix is the soulful tune which has been remixed, cant remember where itis in the mix though...

The Klaxons and Skream share tha same agency Coda (http://www.codaagency.com), so I assume its an organised remix.

I'm not feeling it as I know the original, so it feels like a remix of the original rather than of the Klaxons version (remix of a remix, etc). But out there for trying new things and all that. Skream has so much of his own material that needs hearing so this should get his name out there, but as long as he's not just know as "the bloke who did that Klaxons remix", its all good.

He did that remix for Hot Chip as well so he is definitely taking some new directions and printing his trademark on it and thats great, we are about to expect some new versions coming through skream's hands.
