i think they're both equally good but i just prefer the way chemicals website is laid out, just seems a lot easier. really hate the redeye website, mainly buy from there when chemical has an unusually high price

Actually, I've only ever had a problem with records arriving warped from chemical. However, I've also only ever had that problem when it was very very hot outside. maybe its not their fault?
the fault lies in the packaging. chemical just crams them in an envelope, where redeye uses stiffer boxes and even reinforced the walls and adds padding.

on top of that, almost every time i've used chemical, the flap of the envelope has either come open and been retaped or was open with records missing (one time i had an empty envelope delivered)

That sounds horrible. Don't want to wait a couple of weeks for nothing. Shit. Did they even send you another one?

I bought once from Chemical but I always buy from Red Eye. Bought once from Bleep, that'll be the last time unless I'm desperate. Their prices and shipping are too high.

This is killing me right now - ordered from Chemical on the 12th of last month, still no records and I can't "open a case" or whatever they call it until it's been 28 working days.
I've pretty much given up on ever owning Lucifer / Ruff Lovin now if this order gets lost in the system.
It's such a shame because Chemical have been really good in the past but I might have to try Redeye for the next order.

when an order took longer than expected, redeye sent a backup order and then paid for me to ship the doubles back when they finally showed.

tom is really patient, i can tell he gets annoyed with me asking so many dumb questions, but when i spend a lot of money on records i want them here as soon as possible. and he understands that.

Really? That is great man.

I've literally never had any problems with Redeye so far, and I've used them a lot, but my latest order is taken longer than expected...
It's been well over a week already and I still haven't received it, while it usually takes just 4 days or something. So I'm starting to get a bit worried.

I'll give it another couple of days but if I didn't get it by wednesday I think I'm just gonna shoot Tom an email.

And yes, I've also had several bad experiences with Chemical in the past (also good ones) so I just switched to Redeye. Service is absolutely top notch.

yeah, that is the one thing about redeye. "friday shipping" does not always mean "friday shipping". when i order stuff in stock it comes pretty quickly. just the preorders that seem to take a bit longer than advertised.

I bet redeye has gotten more popular over the last year, and so tom has gotten much busier. takes time to accommodate the increase in order volume.

Well yeah, that's true. But I got an email saying that my order got dispatched on friday last week, and every single time that it got sent on a friday I had it on the next tuesday... but not this time.
So tomorrow it'll be 1 week longer than usual, which is a bit weird. So yeah, don't know what's happened.

Have always had top quality goods and service from Chemical. Have had a couple of dodgy records, but they were replaced pronto.

Maybe they just don't like shipping to the US or don't know how to ship them better overseas, seems like most of the complaints come from there.

with the distance, the likelihood of a problem arising is much higher. i think that's why

Hahaha, funny you should ask. Today I made my first purchase from chemical records and I hated every fucking second about it. They changed my order and shipped me a CD instead of a 12". I know I fucking hit 12" and not a CD, but what ever. I also just have this all around bad feeling when shopping there, never again will I order there and I've only ordered there this one time. Just give off a bad vibe, I don't know, fuck them.

Yeah same here. Par for the course this time of year.

By the way, I don't know how many people have checked recently, but the redeye bargain bin is really really really good right now. I had to stop myself after 2 pages so I wouldnt spend too much. Some of them I thought were totally out of stock everywhere else. Ended up grabbing 20 releases for under 100 pounds (incl shipping) and nearly all of them I would have bought at full price otherwise
