interesting to hear the seperate stems, the drums sound weak and i'd never use those bass noises in a million years though.

Re: Korn feat. Skrillex Remix Contest
i dont think i like any of these sounds, skrillex has better songs and hearing these basses on their own made me laugh. even the better sounds in the stems weren't that impressive ON THEIR OWN, but it really shows that full mix downs do give everything that extra sparkle.
its made me realise that even more after going through the stems and its giving me more thought towards working a lot harder on my mix downs.

Re: Korn feat. Skrillex Remix Contest
are you kidding? Sub bas destroys your headroom therefore less musical possibilities! You might want to add a little to yor snare tho, just to make it feel more punchy in the chest!hendrix126 wrote:Haha this!Raggles wrote:Would we be disqualified for using sub bass?

What's really nice about this is the guitar and bass stems!
Skrillex's bass doesn't sound that to be honest. But I suppose it's still not the one he used in scary monsters!!

http://www.alldoing.com/wp-content/uplo ... rden-1.jpg > This is the third largest venue in NYC. It holds 20,000 people during music events. Neither Skrillex or Deadmau5 have ever played a venue this size. In fact, Deadmau5 has cited playing the garden as one of his goals for 2012, and it looks like he'll achieve that, as they recently began booking DJs, the first DJ performance there occuring last December, Headliners included DJ A-Trak, and The Swedish House Mafia.ChadDub wrote:You get to play your tune to a crowd of over 50K people (or w/e, I'm just estimating), that's a prize no matter what.
I tihnk you grossly overestimate your 50k number. Stop putting people on pedestals. Youd have to get over half the city of San Fransisco to attend a single rave to make 50k. Dubstep will NEVER be that popular.

50k or 20k what's the difference?? Either way you are still playing to a massive crowd and that for most producers would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Did you read my post? 20k is not the number. Thats the total allowed admission at a venue dude was turned down for.notdecidedmusic wrote:Basic A wrote:http://www.alldoing.com/wp-content/uplo ... rden-1.jpg > This is the third largest venue in NYC. Re: Korn feat. Skrillex Remix Contest
FWIW bassnectar just played [read: sold out in a week] the arena in nashville that seats 10-17k. I'd say skrillex could do 20k, hell he's almost certainly played a crowd that big at one festie or another.

Read ; sold out does not mean filled to capacity. event promoters typically dont issue as many tickets as would take to break fire code, and typically, only about 3/4 of people who buy presales attend. Bassnectar also has been established longer then this guy and IS more popular as hard for you to believe as that probably is, as I said, from inside dubstep looking out people on this forum convince you its the current biggest genre, just not true when you look at it from outside in.drake89 wrote:FWIW bassnectar just played [read: sold out in a week] the arena in nashville that seats 10-17k. Bassnectar is one of the upcoming bookings at the gardens btw. So yeah, adding to the point.
I looked it up... this guy played Coachella w/ Korn to a crowd of approximately 9k.

On their own they sound pretty bland, but I think it's the way he mixes them into his tracks that makes them sound big.joegrizzly wrote:Whats with all the hype with Skrillex's drums? There nothing special at all

um, ever heard of edc? "The Las Vegas event lasted 3 days in 2011,[1] attracting an estimated 70,000-75,000 people on Friday, 85,000 people on Saturday, and 63,000 people on Sunday,[2]" - wiki
skrillex played on either friday or saturday, and i'm pretty sure at least 50k of those people saw him

Re: Korn feat. Skrillex Remix Contest
Hey guys, here's my remix attempt for this contest. I've gone with probably a slightly more subtle approach than most people will... hopefully in a good way, though I do only have 6 months production experience, so I hope it doesn't show too much! Kinda hoping I could maybe manage just as a runner up as no idea how I would DJ given I have no experience in that *whatsoever*. Could be funny though!!
Hope you enjoy
