Hit by a car when I was about 11, hit by a bus when I was about 25... walked away from both, though.

When I was about 6 I managed to fall off a 3m (ish) ledge on holiday in France onto my head... knocked myself out for a few minutes and woke up in the back of an ambulance.

At around 18 months old, my GP diagnosed me with a suspected twisted stomach... got rushed from Peterborough to Great Ormand's St in an ambulance with police escort and my Dad following behind, running red lights. Turned out to be a relatively minor kidney infection by the time I got there!

Few years ago was on holiday with my mate in Cornwall, and we were on a beach, I was gonna swim out to this rock that was probably about, 40/50 metres from the shore. We walk as close as we can get along the rocks, but then we have to swim, so my mate stays behind, and I start swimming out, alongside this rock wall. Look back at my mate, and he's pointing upwards at the rock wall. Dunno what went through my mind, but I thought he had seen an easier way to get there other than swimming by climbing over the rock wall. So I climb out the sea, and start climbing this rock wall, no equipment, no shoes, it's North Cornwall so it was really windy, I'm probably about 25/30 metres up (I should explain, there were plenty of easy routes up, this wasn't an expert climb or anything), and I'm looking for somewhere to grab onto. I see this little grass covered rock, so go to grip that, as I do, it comes away completely, there was no rock, just grass, so I'm hanging there over these rocks, desperately trying to find somewhere to put my feet. Managed to get up in the end, and get to the rock I was aiming for. Come back, and my mate goes "What did you climb up there for? I was trying to tell you there was some girls throwing stones from there, so be careful"

Oh yeah, and once going down a country road on my own in the middle of winter I totally failed to spot a 90 degree corner... ridiculously luckily, there was a gate into a farmer's field open right opposite and I went through it, pissed myself laughing, turned around in the field and went about my day... it took an hour or so to realise that if that gate had been closed, I would've been sliced up like a granary loaf!

2 x Motorbike accidents that called have been called "near death" many more that were less serious.
2 x Domestic Electrocutions (lucky they were both ac and not dc!)
1 x Being run over by a VW camper van when i was a teen, came very close to the wheels actually chewing me up
1 x Nearly falling from balcony whilst playing silly buggers

And of course, the most recent....

One of my friends from Bristol once went straight into the passenger door of a car at about 15-20mph because whatever knob was inside had decided they were getting out in the middle of a traffic jam without checking the mirror.

I've done myself on the mains too... when I was about 16 I thought it'd be a good idea to change my light fitting without turning the mains off... cue the somewhat painful realisation that there's a permanent live going through there even if you've turned the wall switch off! Felt like someone punched me in the spine... I was standing on a fucking swivel chair, too... big fall!

not near death but a week back I was fairly drunk so decided to show my son that an electric fence is not that powerful.
I touched it a few times but decided to hold my finger for full effect.
From nothing to involuntary arm movements causing me to pour my beer over my face.
oh how everyone laughed........ at me.

Almost a year ago (28th of Jan 2011) I was the passenger in this. My sisters boyfriend was driving but had a stroke at the wheel and we hit a Frontera headon with a combined impact of 90+. They suspect when he had the stroke he must've put his foot on the accelerator, but neither of us remember anything about that day so we'll never really know.

Still recovering from some of my injuries now, But had a compound break on my right humerus which has a plate on the underarm now. Right femur broken so have an intramedullary nail from hip to knee to support it, and the seatbelt ruptured the lining around my bowel meaning for two weeks, I did nothing but throw up and couldn't eat for about 30 days as I wasn't able to actually shit it out so lost nearly 3 stone that month (came out at just over 8 stone from 11.5 when I went in) before they realised what was happening. Subsequently removed the part of my bowl that was then trapped by the healing torn tissue and i'm still technical a hernia risk due to the other lovely gash.

I did get a pretty nifty scar on my right arm, about a cm thick and 6 inches long.

VW campers are the shit! chick magnets for sure. got a BJ in one once 8)

by the way, in that picture, did you have a morphine drip? you look doped up, like only the left side of your face is trying to smile :cornlol:

you guys have reminded me of a few more stories...

so my brother dared me to grab onto and hold this electrical fence. so i do it, and it's not a bad shock at all, just a slight pulse shock every 2 or 3 seconds. then he tells me to touch this other wire while i'm holding the first wire. i do it, and it shoots me back 5 feet into the wall. dunno what the voltage was, but it was meant for cattle.

another time, took a snowboarding trip with like 40 kids in high school. we rented a bus, and on the ride home, the driver fell asleep. he didn't just fall asleep at any time, he fell asleep when we were descending from a huuuge mountain. we go around a curve, and he wakes up at the last second and jerks the wheel. this was at like 4a.m., so everyone wakes up screaming their guts out while the bus is skidding around the edge of the corner with a 1000ft cliff on the other side. he barely saved it. everyone was freaking out. i yelled at the driver "I don't want to fucking die tonight!!" a week later, a bus full of kids crashes on the same road. same thing happened. only this time, the driver didn't save it. 40 people died :|

1 more. i crashed my dirtbike pretty bad. i hit the ground unconcious and the bike landed on me head. it was still running though, and the back tire was still spinning. N E ways, the back tire wore a hole through my helmet. still have the helmet as a souvenir. still has rubber on it too

tried to save a kid who was drowning and when I was helping him he had been pushing be down drowning me.
not me but a close friend of mine had been bombing down this hill on E with another friend with longboards and one of them fell and damaged his face so he had been bleeding so they decided to go to the hospital still on e and in the parking lot he made an incredibly sharp turn going fairly quick and flipped over once they were there for a good 20 minutes completely unharmed when some people from the hospital had noticed pulled them out and immediately took blood from them both. also there had been a girl in the car completely sober she broke her leg.

also was in a car with the same friend and had ran over my other friend from the feet up. we almost got to the torso until there were people outside screaming to go back so i just calmly told my friend to reverse then we came outside and noticed our friend hurt. felt bad of course and luckily nothing had happened to him.

Friend of mine fell off a cliff skiing and landed on flat... Thought he was winded, we went to ski patrol, then a medical clinic where he could hardly breathe, then rushed in an ambulance to 2 different hospitals on our way from Whistler to Vancouver... Last I saw of him he literally looked like he was going to die, disappeared into surgery and I had no idea what happened until 3 hours after he went into a room marked "resuscitation" and I found out he went into surgery.
Called me the next morning and thanked me for staying with him the entire day and told me I saved his life.. Turned out he blew apart his spleen, severed two arteries in his stomach and bled out internally which almost choked him to death from pressure on his lungs. He lost ALL the blood in his body, and was literally pumping donated blood for a couple months. 5 minutes longer and he would have died, he had no blood in his body so if he stopped breathing to keep his heart beating it would have been over because they couldn't resuscitate him.
He woke up the next morning with a breathing tube and like 15 IVs in his body in the ICU. Wound up spending most of the next week hanging out with him in the hospital, literally one of the worst days/experiences in my life. Kind of really turned me off skiing, makes you realize how close you can actually come to dying sometimes. I've been pretty lucky. Knocked myself out once or twice hitting park jumps... If I wasn't wearing a helmet I could be dead. Life is crazy.
