actually my ultrasone pro 900s do a pretty amazing job at replicating sub bass. they literally sound like I'm in a large room with some dope monitors and a monitoring sub, the sound stage is huge!Aphile wrote:Yes, but no. The MK II is a remade version with the same specs and a $100 price boost. I'd go with the k240 studios. I'm telling you man, these are clean as fuck. You're never going to hear sub bass incredibly clearly in your headphones mix, but you can hear it enough to get the level right and IMO subs can be mixed under anything by the numbers. (some of you will get after me as i constantly read we should never mix by numbers....i find it effective for subs)Sonika wrote:Do you mean the AKG K240 MK II?

Re: Looking for my first pair of studio headphones
I'm picking up some as well. I'd go with the DT-880s or AKG 701/702s from what I've heard.
Re: Looking for my first pair of studio headphones
So I'm looking for headphones that I can actually do a mixdown with...would the AKG K240s have good enough quality for a mixdown and master? So far I haven't found any that are up to that quality, and I can't get studio monitors right now so my only choice is headphones.
Re: Looking for my first pair of studio headphones
it seems to depend on the person, whether the K240's are good or not. I personally, don't like them, but some people swear by them.Sonika wrote:So I'm looking for headphones that I can actually do a mixdown with...would the AKG K240s have good enough quality for a mixdown and master? the response is so flat and even. everything is crystal clear. it's so incredibly apparant from the first moment you listen to your favorite tunes...borgore sounds like he is standing next to me in FLAC. I swear by them. Best thing you can do is try and demo some at a store; Guitar Center?jrisreal wrote:it seems to depend on the person, whether the K240's are good or not. Re: Looking for my first pair of studio headphones
I tried them, they didn't sound good to me. I don't remember why they didn't sound good, but they didn't. The build quality felt pretty poor, also, and it fit way too loosely on the head...could fall off easily.Aphile wrote:the response is so flat and even. everything is crystal clear. it's so incredibly apparant from the first moment you listen to your favorite tunes...borgore sounds like he is standing next to me in FLAC. Re: Looking for my first pair of studio headphones
the k240's lacked bass when i tried them. but thats sort of a known thing with them anyway. the mids are crisp as hell though and they are pretty transparent.

why are so many of you who have been helped already, suddenly asking the same question again?
plus dude said he is on a limited budget, why does everyone have to post headphones well above his budget?
