this thread has given me grey hairs, Im not even sure I should venture in here with an opinion but Im going to risk it in the hope it does some good to someone.

First thing, dont frequency split you bass. I'll telll you why, that clip you posted doesnt sound like a murdersaw Calyx and Teebee kick your back door in reese assault, thats the quality a split frequency bassline should be. If youre not getting a sound roughly in that ballpark before you start you need to go back to the synth and work out how to make proper bass come out of it without any post processing because thats the first place you are going wrong, and you arnt going to be able to work out how to properly make use of frequency splitting till you have a proper bass sound to split. If you are wondering how to make a sub work with a midrange but you are 3 band splitting a multiresampled bass its like trying to learn how to bend a ball mid air to score a 30 yard free kick before youve learnt how to tie your shoe laces. I dont mean any disrespect, weve all started a the point of not being able to tie our shoe laces and read that bit where if you dont split into hi/mid/low resample 4 times and then use a multiband sidechain compressor against the kick you wont get good bass, and then spent 4 months just making blury noise, its all good.

My advice, make the sub the same notes as your midrange, and that shouldnt be too hard because ur mid range will be coming from a midi track and a synth, not a bunch of samples. But before you even go there, before you even split into 2 bands, work out how to make ugly crunchy bass right out of the synth. When you get to the point where you are thinking ok, my chuggy Tunnidge monster noise is great, but its missing that consistency in the sub end that keeps every note pounding equally, then learn to split into 2 bands and use a sub layer. Until you are getting the sound 99% there from the synth, all the resampling and freq splitting in the world will never help you, at best youll make a slightly more interesting mess than you started with.

The day you wake up and decide youre fed up being able to make 95% of the bass sounds you hear being used, you want to ascend to the pinnacle of dance music sound design and make your own murdersaw Calyx and Teebee kick your back door in reese assault bassline, then you should start worrying about how to triple band split and rereresample your already hideous patch into some buzzing fluxorgy.

Oh and ditch note C, its the only thing worse than B, if you are just starting on a note for the sake of starting on a note go for F or G, it will leave your low end sitting in an easier part of the spectrum to work with and hear.

Sorry haven't been by the computer for a few days. Thanks for all the advice . I learned a lot and will be applying it to my music. This has been a big help.
