He used the same preset as the guy who did the music for ff7.
A preset that was made by handless untrained monkeys with sticks attached to helmets so that they could press keys on the keyboard.#

Badman.
The Silent Hill series is quality as well, although that's more about atmospheres and sound design than melodies that loop every two minutes.

Both DMZ and Burial have reminded me of
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter Onto some synthetic tribal thing here, down to the very graphics. The game is based on a comic book, there but it has no cut-scenes or dialogue whatsoever, except for "
I'M TUROK!". Gameplay consist of running around massive, fog-filled stages searching for keys, firing at everything that moves. The music you hear while underwater and in the catacomb level starting at 27 minutes just completes the bleakness.

It's all about Shadowman from around 2000.
Best game storyline ever, best game dialogue ever, very atmospheric music in some of the levels. Seriously twisted but a top 10 all time classic nonetheless. Then they made a Playstation only sequel in about 5 minutes and killed the franchise off completely. perhaps they used another developer.
Apparently the music was made by a guy called Tim Haywood

lovin this thread.
where would a thread about game ost`s be without any mention of KATAMARI DAMASHII!!! get to know people. you haven`t lived until you`ve spent a day with NA-NAAA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NA-NAAA constantly bouncing around your head.
on the subject of Uematsu scores.....SECRET OF MANA!!!!!....his crowning glory.
have nuff love for the final fantasy music, i have so many different orchestral/vocal/synth renditions from across the series it`s silly.
naturally nintendo smashed it across the board with the metroid and zelda music.
some excellent and slightly more miscellaneous ones are:
Border Down
Shadow of the Colossus (deeeeeep soundtrack)
Vib Ribbon (good j-pop biz)
Donkey Kong Country series (Probably RARE`s best music ever)

Yeah, all about Metroid.
Koji kondo man on the buttons behind all the Super Mario games, in bad taste perhaps but still briliant
Secret of Mana 2 (never released in English but theres a homemade translation knocking around the net) had one or two lovely tunes, but there were so many in the game.
Secret of mana 1 had brilliant Sound effects that pushed the snes to the limits
Sonic CD on the failed Sega Mega CD platform, and you could put all of the Mega CD games in your hi fi to listen to the music.
Totally a no brainer, but all the 3D GTA games as well, even though the tunes werent purpose built.

Bad tune! Just really great melodies and getting nice sounds out of a limited palette.

Are you sure that was Uematsu? I thought Hiroki Kikuta composed all of the early Mana titles.
But yeah, lovely game. I actually have a cartridge of Seiken Densetsu 3...

How did you get Seiken Densetsu 3 on cartridge, I thought that was a Japan only. The homemade lingo translation was excellent. And the games storyline was good enough to make it a classic in my eyes, despite me not being a fan of RPG's apart from Zelda. Unfortunately my harddrive broke when I had completed 3/4 of the game. Would love to see it on the Wii Virtual Console

classic. fingers crossed for an orchestral version of that in Smash Bros Brawl.
on that note, the list of composers they have for the game is INsaaaaaNE!
http://www.smashbros.com/en_uk/music/music01.html
the potential for that ost is incredible. so far the music they`ve shown has been a bit programmed for my liking, i`m hoping it`s more orchestrated (a la Melee) by the time it comes out.
