I want to write a film score in a DAW

I got installed sampletank free and the free sounds, but it doesn't seem to be able to find them. It's driving me crazy.

Did you click 'relist' next to the browser? Have to do that for every pack you install. Also the button 'prefs' to setup where they are installed. Obvious but when I first bought it, I couldn't see that damn tiny button.

I did 'relist', it doesn't do anything. I can't see the whole file extension in the 'prefs' section, I did the self-install for the free sounds but do they have to go to a certain folder?

This sampler looks mad good, I just want to fucking play it. FAQs so far are fucking useless. Cheers anyway.

I'm not using the free one, but I think they are the same plugin minus the commercial sound expansions I've bought.

I just checked, I can't see an extension either in prefs, only E:\Samples\Sampletank\Instruments\...

It reads that entire directory.

All my rompler/sampler libraries are on a dedicated drive, so I doubt it has to be a specific location. Just try the default one, inside 'Instruments'.

Ah just rechecked and the Sampletank executable is there too on the same E: drive. I guess I installed it there, but it also has files in C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia

Btw it also can import other formats like wav/aiff/akai.. Just click Import. (Assuming this is also in the free one)

EDIROL ORCHESTRA hands down, best orchestral VST ive ever used, comes with preset halls, types of orchestra, and the different instruments (think theres abroun 100 or more) are of amazing quality, i myself am covering hans zimmers' time at the moment.

i just need some tuts on producing orchestral scores, when it comes to composing, arrangement...etc..

anyone got some good links on that?

I think I've moved everything around so much, and installed/uninstalled so many times that I just don't know what I'm doing any more. Cheers for looking though. I'll definitely have another attempt.

I've got to say I find it weird how many people compose "film score" music with no film and it's just hacky timpani rolls and over the top orchestration. The world already has John Williams and a billion other clones. It doesn't have to be tacky and played out to be a film score, but that seems to be what a lot of people actually aim for, which is odd. That video above for example, fair enough if he is just trying to replicate that kind of thing for fun though.

Check out the presspauseplay documentary... There's a bit about olafur arnalds! It won't learn you anything, but I think it can be pretty inspirational!
