What the fuck? Sawer and toxic biohazard are way simpler than sylenth and massive.
I love toxic biohazard though. I ended up buying it.

Re: I need a 'Reese' bass.
Yeah it seems that Biohazard can create some really nasty sounds without really having to know how to do a whole lot. Plus a good tempo-syncing LFO and all the built-in waveforms... not sure what's not to get.Coolschmid wrote:What the fuck? Sawer and toxic biohazard are way simpler than sylenth and massive.

Though nobody ever said Skrillex uses Toxic Biohazard so people don't fawn over presets for it.

Re: I need a 'Reese' bass.
Just fired up Sawer for the first time and made the best reese ive made so far in about 10 mins... (Still a shit reese but miles better than I was managing with Massive)
Re: I need a 'Reese' bass.
Whoa easy there, I thought a reese was a synth that is used a lot for neurofunk, why am I all of a sudden being hammered here? Yeah sure I couls make one but I am asking fir like the basic necessities of what makes a reese a reese.
I couls be wrong but this entire time I've been thinking a reese is like.. A very heavily white-noised and distorted thick wave of sound, like used in a LOT of Porter Robinson tracks.
(INMO, this forum is kind of full of dickheads, I don't find it very helpful at all considering everyones like a lonewolf.)

Keep progressing, one day you'll be great.

Two detuned saw waveforms.
Re: I need a 'Reese' bass.
There is a huge thread full of people helping each other make reese basses on the front pageBYTEME wrote: (INMO, this forum is kind of full of dickheads, I don't find it very helpful at all considering everyones like a lonewolf.)

Re: I need a 'Reese' bass.
I know not everyone is like that, but still, sometimes people just ignore giving advice and rage at them for not knowing, or for asking ridiculous overused questions, and not give a link to it. No one's ripping off anyone so why hate someone for wanting to learn a simlar synth as used by any other artists? It bothers me when people are unhelpful like that. :/Brothulhu wrote:There is a huge thread full of people helping each other make reese basses on the front pageBYTEME wrote: (INMO, this forum is kind of full of dickheads, I don't find it very helpful at all considering everyones like a lonewolf.)

Re: I need a 'Reese' bass.
But you made a thread about making a sound when there is a huge thread on the exact topic on the front page, maybe that's why people are being rather short with you.BYTEME wrote:I know not everyone is like that, but still, sometimes people just ignore giving advice and rage at them for not knowing, or for asking ridiculous overused questions, and not give a link to it. Exactly. You made a thread about something a quick google search would have gotten you, that's why people were dicks with you.Brothulhu wrote:But you made a thread about making a sound when there is a huge thread on the exact topic on the front page, maybe that's why people are being rather short with you.BYTEME wrote:I know not everyone is like that, but still, sometimes people just ignore giving advice and rage at them for not knowing, or for asking ridiculous overused questions, and not give a link to it. ByteMe: Please accept my apologies for my comments, i was a bit harsh. Yes, there are a lot of posts asking simple questions and a quick google or youtube search usually answers these. But as Wub pointed out, comments like mine don't help.
Believe me, a lot of us do try to help. Its just when a really basic question pops up it seems that some people can't be bothered to learn anything for themselves. If you're at the stage of learning to make reeses, you have a long way to go and will find many things harder. So searching, finding things out and experimenting will help you much more in the future than someone giving you exact directions on how to make a sound. Just grab your favourite synth and spend the next few months making some crazy sounds.

No I've learned quite a lot. Just some things I REALLY can't learn no matter how much I read about it.
Like what volumes drums and synths should have, and proper EQing.
Can't learn those very well but I do experiment a LOT with mixing and mastering simple kick-hat-snare-hat (4x4) patterns with sub bass hitting between 20-60hz. ALL of the drums I use hit at -6. Including the hat. Then the sub hits at -12db.
It's a sine in the low C2-C3 octaves with a bass boost on the EQ, and all high frequencies above 90hz cut out.
So what am I doing wrong here???
Another thing is adding pads to give some ambience filled in, instead of that dry empty sound..

When you say all of the drums are hitting at -6 you're saying: "I'm consuming half of my headroom with the drums alone, leaving little room for anything else."BYTEME wrote:ALL of the drums I use hit at -6. Including the hat.

Try mixing your drums down a lot quieter, ESPECIALLY your hats, the human ear can pick up high frequencies at really really low levels, when I mix down my drums I place my kick usually around -10, snare around -8, and hats can go as low as -20 to -16 and still be perfectly audible. Just remember that you can make a good mix loud but you can't necessarily make a loud mix good. The moneyshot thread here is my best friend. I read it over and over again sometimes as frequently as once a week.
