It would be nice if you just didn't post in the first place though.
Was trying to help you out with a bigger problem than does the d expander sound good in mono.

Why can't you see that I'm hoping to gather advice from other peoples experiences with the dimensional expander in mono and that saying "do what sounds good" doesn't help even though it is true.

It sounds OK... All the stereo width is gone of course so the whole track sounds a little flat to me. Telling if the volume relative to everything else is the same in stereo and mono is the part I'm having trouble with.
Did you try any of Massives mono fx?
Did I try them for what?
On your patch, to see if you can get a better sound than the mono'd dimension expander.

you can instantiate Massive in mono, then engage the d expander, see if that helps with your particular patch.
if you dump example clips of your patch in mono vs. stereo, i'd tell you if i thought it was acceptable as an effect in a mono mix

What would you do if you couldn't ask anyone for advice? If you couldn't be told what is good and bad?

Retain your sovereignty and then we can talk about the d expander.

That's the worst fucking point ever. What if DSF didn't exist??? Oh wait I'm on it right now, and it does exist, so I'm going to make use of it. And if you want to help me make use of it, then go ahead, but if not I'd appreciate it if you didn't post in my threads telling me do things myself. I've learned alot of good ideas from the other people on this thread who actual are helping.

I do get it, honestly. I'm also trying to get across the point that posts like his don't help.

for the way you asked the question, it was the only response needed.

JFK wrote: Its a stereo effect. So if you put it on an element (like a low/mid bassline) that you will later switch to mono then it will lose some of its presence and, obviously, its width. How much it looses depends entirely on what sound you are using it on, what level of wet/dry you have on the dimension expander itself and how high in the mix the particular element is.
This was the response I needed. Definitely not "try it yourself". I don't need a lesson on trying things myself.

just a tip: next time you have a question don't ask if it will still sound good. because that is an opinion and it is only up to you if it sounds good or not.

for that response, try to get technical. even if you don't know what you're looking for. "what is happening to the stereo image when I do this," "what effect will this and this have" etc.

not trying to be a dick but if you want better answers ask better questions

Yeah I agree my initial question could have been more specific, like "will there be phase-cancellation" or something. Even though it wasn't the best, Nowaysdj could have asked if I could be more specific and not say "try it yourself". I'm not sure why you're defending him about that.

i'm defending his point and it's just a common thing around here that people ask questions when they could've had the answer in five seconds if they had just done it themselves

too many "what will happen if i ______" idk try it!?

What's wrong with sharing your insight on the topic or just not posting at all? Alot of times people think things they have already figured out are just as easy for everyone else to figure out and that's not always the case. But seriously the last thing I wanted to hear was try it yourself. I don't post questions without trying them myself.
