Since I've got into over the last few months though it has definitely become possibly my favourite genre on par with house  That tune is real nice aswell! Am I right in thinking the detroit sound is abit more like 808/909 & lots of electric sounding chords & sequences?
I kind of think of detroit techno, as yeah more straight up drum machine sounding, with dry synths, fast 16th note hats, and groovey percussion and basslines that make you wanna shake your booty. There is also the soulful side though like Theo Parrish and the like.

I hope dubstep vanishes in a year and we could use this forum just for techno stuff

Nah there's some good dubstep, problem is it's like 5%.

I've seen a guide around to installing it on OSX and Windows 7, I'll see if I can find it again.

Edit: check here for info on how to (apparently works on 7 fine), seems people use Crossover or Sheep Shaver on OSX:

I just reinstalled it for fun, but it's waaaaaay too tiny on my 1080p monitor. Unusable. Going to search for info on that as well.

This so much! even the dubstep I like I've got bored of and would only wanna hear at a night. The techno thread has changed my life for the better

i think the the problem is alot of folk who were making decent dubstep have gone over to the house/techno side of things as dubstep narrowed and lost its original audience (not everyone obviously there are still some good trad dubstep producers of course). i have to say though i'm getting a wee bit sick of the 'ex dubstep producer makes house/uk bass/post-dubstep' stuff too as some of it is starting to become a bit samey and formularized imo.

anyway sorry for going a bit off topic. i posted this a few days ago in the techno/house production thread on making those kick reverb basses - http://www.mnml.nl/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=65500. people into house and techno should check out the production forum on mnml.nl as there is a shitload of good information there :D

Yeah, I know what you mean, Im moving over to more of the actual techno side, like not people who came from dubstep haha. There are some sick guys that moved over though, still. Im getting bored of the swamp sound, like the swamp guys are doing it yeah, and doing it good, but bare like newer guys are gunning for the same sound, and to me, most of it is just waste.
