no but rather than making this about killawatt, it's really that entire niche I was targeting.

Re: OSMUK 018 vs OSMUK 019 : Problems exposed
Sorry if I was a bit harsh here man, it's just comments like the one you made on the new coki tune that really get under my skin. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say tunes sound amazing on earbuds, but agreed, lots of tunes sound good on a nice pair of speakers as well as the club. I'll try to keep cool with you in the future, as you say, we are here for the same common interest.Cornbreadddd wrote:Are you serious............dsprainman wrote:Always for the last 6 months you've been listening to dubstep? lol. And now you're talking about tunes that are good on a system when you usually rag on "system tunes"... Give me a break.Cornbreadddd wrote:Agreed.baddis98 wrote:seriously what's your point? you don't like that kind of direction people like killawatt are taking with their tunes, fine! but why the comparison with that KM techno bit? what are you trying to say? that techno is the new dubstep? that KM should focus on that type of tunes in the future? why don't you listen to techno, if that's what you're looking for? i like 'breach', but just because it might be the first tune of that kind by KM, it doesn't mean it's anything revolutionary or special.
Also, I'm right there with you to an extent, I'm sick of hearing the same shit as well. However, I don't think Killawatt was necessarily the best example. Have you listened to the free EP he just gave away? It's by no means an EP which consists of "just some more dungeon tunes." His sound is so distinct, and so energetic. Listen to that tune "Locked In" on a system, the bass weight is incredible. On top of that, unlike a lot of dungeon producers, Killawatt actually has a lot of variations in his tunes, it's not the same loop for 6 minutes straight, there are lots of transitions and changes within the tunes, and that's something I appreciate immensely. I've always supported Killawatt and I always will.
I always rag on tunes that only sound good on a huge system, these tunes aren't that. They sound amazing on the system that I have in my car or even earbuds. It's the tunes that people say only sound good on a thousand dollar rig that I have a problem with, but thanks for your concern.
Again, the issue at hand is not how long I've been listening to dubstep, but instead how long I've been listening to Killawatt, because after-all, that's specifically who I was mentioning in this case. Perhaps you should read peoples statements more thoroughly before making such brash and mindless comments. Yes, I have been listening to Killawatt since before he put out his first Wheel-N-Deal EP, so I believe I can say that I have "always" liked Killawatt.
I have no idea why you feel the necessity to be a dick when I have said nothing that concerns you,and on top of that, I'm simply stating my appreciation for an artist, yet you manage to find something wrong with that, incredible. People like you are responsible for the ubiquitous negativity in this community and on this forum. I know, I know, I was at one point a very obnoxious mongrel on this forum but since then, I've tried to be a little bit more respectful on this board. It makes no sense for everyone to be so negative, including myself, when we're all here and we all share a common interest, you would think that everyone would get along much better, but it's unnecessary and condescending comments such as this that perpetuate this omnipresent negativity. It's not the first time either, you always have something nasty to say about every comment I make, why? Is this some sort of insecurity of yours?

it's not a bad track by any means. But needs more palette for me to stay interesting. I've been hearing these same kicks for literally half a decade. I need movement, flow, direction. I suppose that's what was the core of this thread. Rather have above average tracks trying something new, than the same old safe stuff. But a lot of the labels that have moved on, have done so in a more light-hearted fashion (hotflush, hyperdub...). Hessle are somewhere in between still, but I would like it if OSMUK kept it's dark vibe but moved into new interesting pastures.tomre wrote:joeki wrote:^^ ugh again those kicks. It's when you fixate on them. Still I like that track very much.

On a slightly related note with regards to Kryptic Minds doing different stuff to "dungeon", I wish they'd do more of their melodic, garagey type tunes that they pull out occasionally. Although there are similarities to stuff by Burial, Synkro etc Kryptic Minds have their own dark spin on that style that I've never really heard any other producer come close to.
Lovely stuff. More of this stuff please Kryptic Minds
Or more tunes with Alys Be, Can't Sleep and Time Flies are amongst my favourite dubstep tunes ever.

what's osiris not giving a fuck have to do with anything, furthermore if I was trying to change their minds (but that's the entire point of the thread, THEY ALREADY HAVE APPARENTLY), DSF would be the last place to start. Keep trying. No need to confirm Ozzie stereotypesfoxtrot wrote:pity you aint curating the label then aye, you got all the ideas. Im sure osiris doesnt give a fuck mate.
Also agree with DeniedExistence, I like that plate.

To the OP, I hear what you're saying about 'dungeon' getting a little samey and dull; the key is to just be more selective with the riddims you buy.
Also, I agree that the new KM plate is amazing, especially 'Idiom'... so sick!
What do you think of this...

You've posted multiple times before about how bored you are with dubstep, i don't see why you feel the need to make a post about a label you obviously have no interest in.
Why were you even listening to the tunes in the first place?

Re: OSMUK 018 vs OSMUK 019 : Problems exposed
that's where you are assuming.
I own and am quite fond of OSMUK 016 (Kaiju admittedly, I only spin the b-side). Things went downhill a bit after. Now I felt it reached another peak. People can comment on how 'hyperdub' has gone down the drain and there is actually almost a quality debate about it.
But when you dare question Dungeon, oh no! It's so close to dubstep it's dark and heavy there's nothing wrong with that.
Yes I'm tired of a a lot of dubstep out there, I'm biased I'll give you that.

Re: OSMUK 018 vs OSMUK 019 : Problems exposed
So you started a thread to tell everybody you dont like one release? i could understand if you disliked all of "dungeon" but you clearly dont as youve said you like the KM and Kaiju releases... nobody is forcing you to buy this music mate
Re: OSMUK 018 vs OSMUK 019 : Problems exposed
Even if that was the case, why is that still a problem?
But no, it's not just one release, there were two between Kaiju and this one and several before. And as I've said for the umpteenth time, this IS about dungeon but I used OSMUK as a point of reference on how it (possibly, future will tell) is something that people are luckily for me, trying to change.
If anything I applauded OSMUK for their choice of 19th plate. But people were too busy being offended to even notice that. And again, people can express their discomfort about a certain label and its releases, but there's always a few core labels that can't be touched under no circumstances, or so it seems.
Also, I'm glad some people at least took something from this thread, cheers for the PM's, check out Beneath as well. Or the new Egyptrixx and Anstam tracks on MONKEYTOWN025, that's what I HUMBLY THINK could be a good direction for the style and vibe for OSMUK.
