I'll PM you (don't want to hijack this thread)
Fam I got mine like $280-300 each. Don't buy them shits new. And why is coki going to continue playing vinyl but stop playing dubs? It would be a sad day if there was nowhere to cut dubs :(

maybe he ran out of money so he can't cut everything on dubplates.

personally i dont give a fuck, i'd still enjoy experiencing DMZ if he plugged on his ipod and played the tunes from there

well they don't MAKE technics new anymore - I can't find ones for those price :(

yeah it said somewhere that he just was ALSO going to use CDJs so that he could do fine in clubs where they catered more to CDJs

it's funny, I remember right before I read that faecbook post about him making the switch, I was watching a youtube video of him live and he drops babylon fall and it skips a TON, the crowd even stops dancing for a second because it's skipping so much

it first skips around 2:20, he gives it a funny look and then puts his gun finger back up haha

then it really starts getting mental around 2:50, just skipping all over the place

Only ever mixed on my 1210s (and a digital controller) but I've never understood the 'vinyl only' DJing approach, I'd have no problem using CDJs but would much prefer to mix vinyl. I think DJs should take vinyls intending to mix vinyl but if they do end up with problems quickly switch to CDJs. Whats a small CD wallet on top of taking all your vinyls? Most mixers have 4 channels so you can have the CDJs and turntables set up already so the switch over wouldn't be that much of an issue unless I'm missing something...

Its DJs who completely give up on vinyl and refuse to use it that are destroying it more. Whos gunna look after turntables when almost no DJ uses it anymore? If most DJs turned up with vinyl but had CDs as backup.. the turntables would be kept in better condition and technicals would happen a lot less.

Glad Coki has the right idea of mixing both still.

Yep, it's defo 50/50. Can go on about clubs not maintaining their decks (which is utter waste), but what's the point of maintaining them if nobody's gonna use them. Up to the big names that are complaining to put pressure on clubs/promoters IMO.

But honestly, I really couldn't care now. I love vinyl, and maybe a few months ago I'd be bothered, but yeah, really couldn't give the slightest fuck anymore.

End of the day, love vinyl, but as sound systems get bigger and clubs put less effort into maintaing their decks and accomodating vinyl DJs, its understandable that people wouldn't want to play a set where its skipping like fuck, to the point where it makes them look like a shit DJ.

The main thing is Coki will still be playing vinyl when he knows its a good setup, he's just taking on CDJ use for places that can't hack it.

Main reason why most are fucked is because CDJ users like to use the tone arms to rest their double digit kilo weighted CD wallets on them. :(

Really?

I think midi controllers are an abomination. Or anything with a sync button.
Big up to coki.

I've bought three sets of Technics in my life - a set of mk2s for $250, a set of mk5s for $500, and a set of m3ds with flight cases and a lot of mods for about $1200. If you look hard enough you can find a solid set for the price you want. I bought those mk2s in 2002 and they still work excellently, I've only had to do minor maintenance in the 10 years that I've owned them.

Also, there are ways to be ready for both. My UDG courier bag came with two matching cdj wallets, so I when I go to a place where I'm unsure about the decks I take the wallets with me so I'm ready for whatever.

Yeah I had the SL1200 M3Ds with flightcases too and could not sell them for a grand each if my life depended on it. Had to almost give them away and that's in a big club/DJ city too. Keep looking Sonika! Don't be afraid of used ones, they are tanks and people take care of them (as long as you can see the condition before you buy anyway).

They do have craigslist btw.

yeah they do have craigslist but it was started by americans who missed it and it has like 30 products

I'll keep my eyes open though - I'm surprised you couldn't get away for selling them for more wormcode, if you look up "technics 1200" one of the first results is one for like $1500 on ebay

I don't think it's a coincidence that he decided to start using CDJs as he embarks on his US tour.

Same thing with Vivek when he was in Brooklyn.

I can imagine when Coki plays at particular nights. DMZ Leeds for instance he will stick to his Vinyl. I've never witnessed a problem there when the Mystikz are throwing it down!
