Pearson Sound - Clutch

I tbh think it's tight. It sounds like he's trying to get rid of the foot but still have it move. It's really risky when people try to make tracks without having the kickdrum drive it, but I think Pearson does a pretty good job at it.

Seems like he's heading towards a darker more experimental sound, partly inspired by techno - pretty much like everyone else from the "UK Bass" scene.
This one is not really doing it for me, but I'm excited to see what can come out of this change.

Is it just me or is there something that most of these guys don't capture when they're making a more techno inspired sound? When comparing to releases on Ostgut Ton, Frozen Border or whatever "techno label", it seems like the sound differ a lot in terms of the depth, space, warmth and how the bottom end is constructed. Don't get me wrong cause I'm not saying this is necessarily bad, although I do prefer the other sound. It's probably a question of how they make their productions and I believe each artist's sound is intended.

I don't think everyone is just trying to make techno. you said it yourself by saying "techno inspired". they're not all trying to emulate ostgut ton/frozen border and the like. construction will differ due to reference points, influences etc.

I think that goes for a lot of techno too.

If that's the sound you're going for then fair enough. all about context. jam city's lp sounds very artifical and it fits.

He tweaks that ish like a MFer! I'm convinced his knowledge of
frequencies is much deeper than most artists / djs. In Detroit
we're mostly subjected to awful muddy soundsystems. The one time
I seen Pearson Sound DJ (at DEMF last year) he blew everyone out of
the water as far as sound quality goes.

Yeah, I am aware of his previous work.
I should've been more specific - I was referring to last year, when his output pretty much only where bangers, often similar in structure and sound palette (juke inspired drums with snare rolls, reverbed/delayed cowbells, 808 kicks as sub, melodic extended breakdowns, etc...).
If you compare to those releases, this does seem a bit more "experimental", or at least a change in sound direction.This tune is a bit too random for me, but I think the upcoming releases can be good.
