sorry to go off topic but what do you guys think of sam xl's system?

i went to a night out there and wasn't exactly impressed by it at all. found myself doing proper wtf faces when people were talking about how they could feel the bass in their chest.

it depends, the full rig is a beast, but for most shows the set up is smaller, and yeah, it can get a bit weak.

4am Naan and Curry sounds like the best option at the moment
Folks, that's Knell slang for "picking up tranny hookers in the tenderloin." Just FYI. :P

re: quality of rigs...

You know, as an engineer the first thing to pop to mind is that what's being played back has much to do with the perception of the system's abilities, as much or even more than simple things like range and crossover cutoff (and we won't even get into the whole other argument of the DJ having a redundant EQ to fuck up the house mix  .)

Pure Filth & Screwface tend towards a certain type of sound, lil more aggro/tearout and even at times, yes, mid-rangy. All those things - plus the sheer volume of that rig - are going to color your experience of it at least partway.

That being said? His rig is loud and fairly clear across the freq range, and yet doesn't feel like it has as much presence as some smaller rigs do. Dunno for sure tho, just waxing my butt.

Oh shit! Only a few more hours now!

Glad I already called in sick to work tomorrow.

Anybody wants to try and hook up with me & Knell PM me, I'll be checking 'em right up til we go in.
