I love the grammar here:hugh wrote:I don't think I will EVER get bored of Vinnie Paz's crazy delivery and Stoupe's insane beats.capo ultra wrote:no I don't listen to hardly anything these days. Been listening to a bit of Jedi Mind Tricks actually thanks to Hugh's thread, first thing I've listened to in ages.
Don't know if that makes me 'cool' or whatever, probably just old

But yeah, it's not got that solid foundation and core of artists putting quality stuff out anymore. Maybe they got bored too.Hedley King wrote:Depends what you call dubstep, I don't listen to much new stuff your average man on the street would call dubstep, lots of it just seems a bit too generic a copy of stuff I've heard years ago to be really exciting to go and search out other than listening to a few mixes and radio shows. But listen to a lot of stuff that would get labelled as post dubstep and future garage, more techno type stuff too. (I don't like all those names for it- a few years back it'd all just get called dubstep, but guess it does makes it easier to describe)
Yeah Phaeleh was one of the last artists I got really into, FaltyDL, DFRNT, Dark Sky sort of stuff. Will check out Grimes

I've found myself drifting away lately. I tend to listen to a lot of reggae and acoustic music now.
I still buy quite a lot of dubstep but I never really mix it that much anymore which kind of defeats the object, similarly at outlook this year I don't think I'll be watching that many dubstep DJs. All my friends are creaming over the osiris v chestplate night and I literally couldn't care less about it, I'm much more excited at the thought of Jah Shaka, Lee Perry, Zion Train etc.
Looking forward to System tonight though, that night captures the sound of what I want to hear perfectly!

I still listen to it, and not much else, but its tiresome having to wade through a shit ton of average production. I kinda feel as though the genre has become stale over the years.
Music was a big passion of mine but it bores me these days, I cant be bothered to listen to anything and nothing new appeals tp me to give it a chance...except 'call me maybe'.

Re: does anyone here actually listen to dubstep anymore?
Half the people on here who moan about how boring dubstep is only got into it 2 years ago..
Its just completely gone out of fashion.

i don't mean guitar hardcore btw
i mean early house with breakbeats and pianos
i just find that most new dubstep goes nowhere and does absolutely nothing for mefaust.dtc wrote:I still listen to it, and not much else, but its tiresome having to wade through a shit ton of average production. I kinda feel as though the genre has become stale over the years.

Re: does anyone here actually listen to dubstep anymore?
not quite as much atm. considering the genre was what got me buying vinyl, i don't buy much dubstep vinyl atm. there's too much interesting stuff going on in music for me to want to go for any 1 genre specifically on a night out now. that said, im always dipping in and out of listening fads so theres no reason i won't go back and listen to a load of new dubstep stuff at any point.
would be very sad if dubstep disappeared from the scene altogether, i would rarely want to go on a night out where there was no prospect of any dubstep whatsoever i dont think....

Re: does anyone here actually listen to dubstep anymore?
music is so hard to talk about because it is so big...
You know how many facets of good music exist?!
I can't even start to explain - I'd have to name like 200 artists just to get a sketch in...
