not too popular in my experience

Played a show last week and had multiple people both during and after my set come up to me and comment on how crazy it is that I play "actual records".

People these days seem literally dumbfounded that it's possible to DJ without a laptop, shit's too funny

Go and have a look round most clubs, see if anybody's using the technics or if they're using the CDJs or laptops.

Soundcloud

Dark dubstep, fair amount of unsigned/amateur tracks from the forums too.

How popular?
Very.
Next question...

Edit: y'all noticed how every time a party/music is depicted on the tv in adverts or films its a giant black spinning disc?
I fucking love vinyl. I understand why man use CDs in the dance but all that other shit is for convenience purposes only. Timeless music is nearly always pressed on vinyl, all that digital shit is forgettable.. My opinion only.
My recorded all vinyl mixes are here...

For me, the fact that buying the releases you enjoy on vinyl whether they are brand new releases, old releases, or represses means you have a physical, keepsake medium of that particular tune/album/artist/genre and also results in you having a better understanding and connection with the music, which is cool

yeh i know, and like i said in my post a lot of them are only using laptops and cds coz its a hell of a lot easier and a lot less of a pain in the arse then lugging loads of vinyl around. you ask most djs i mean real djs that love the music if they prefer cds n laptops over vinyl and they will mostly say no. vinyl is better. cds n laptops are just more convenient for the dj playing in a club. Of course a dj will prefer to use laptop cds over vinyl in club for all the reasons i mentioned above and that is why you see so many doing so. Oh and a lot of these so called dj's use cds and laptops coz they don't want to pay out alot of money on vinyl but still want to be a dj superstar. :w:

Dubstep IS the reason I'm a vinyl junkie :) Started somewhere in 2007, few years after the first DMZ releases. If u see the prices now for early DMZ stuff etc, it's way too expensive for me to collect them, I'm on a quest though :) One day...
Not many of my friends use CD's or laptops... and we can't complain, lot's of good stuff coming out.
Nope, NEVER considered starting to play with something different than vinyl, and never will.
