Haha. +1 I find I learn has much from threadjacks as I do the OP's question on most music forums.Brothulhu wrote:I didn't think I would learn anything cool from this thread, I'm off to look this upwub wrote: DJ Krust did something similar for the bassline on Warhead, recording the reverb from his speakers back into itself.

Though it's sadly no longer on sale and OP will have to pay full price for it;

Using a combination of peak limiting and low-level compression with automatic makeup, Louder effectively makes tracks louder, increasing RMS by up to 24 dB.
Re: Ways to get your track louder!
You're kidding right? Panning the exact same thing left and right just ends up with a louder track in the center...wub wrote:You could create three duplicates of the track, one centered, one hard panned left and one hard panned right. Mix all three together and you'll create a wall of sound.
Also, try duplicating the track and low passing the duplicate before mixing both together. The bottom end frequencies will be 'louder'.

Wall of sound is a proven production technique - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Spect ... l_of_Sound

Yeah when it's a different recording, doh. When you pan the exact same signal left and right, all it will do is raise the volume. You'd think you would know something about stereo image if you're a moderator on a huge production board...

Re: Ways to get your track louder!
You told him to duplicate the track (thus creating 3 exact same copies) where you pan one left, one right and one centered. All that will do is double the volume on the original track.

Double the volume = twice as loud. Simple Spinal Tap methodology being applied here, hardly brain science.RmoniK wrote:You told him to duplicate the track (thus creating 3 exact same copies) where you pan one left, one right and one centered. Way to think outside the boxRmoniK wrote:Why not just raise the meter by 6 dB then? ...
That's a whole six louder...though the louder knob I recommended above goes 24 louder. Not sure how many louder the OP wanted though, maybe call it 15 to go halfway?
Re: Ways to get your track louder!
6 db doubles the volume. When you do the duplicating thing, the result will be the same as pushing the slider up 6 db.
