I'd love to mess around with some if you can find em. Who created them or who won doesn't really matter to me.wub wrote:I've got most of them going back to #5, I think...but they're not online outside of an active contest for storage reasons. Can have a dig around next time I'm on the studio machine if you want some old ones to mess with?OfficialDAPT wrote:Haha that'd be too easy then! Is there somewhere I can download the previous sample packs?
Can't provide any historical data on who created them or what the winning submission from them was, however.

Back to teaching on the 14th of January...didn't get many classes. Only 4...ramen noodle budget...good thing I worked the spendy spirit out of me over the holidays...advantage is way less grading, courses start at noon, lots of time for music
Ton o' new gear to learn and play with while I'm starving this winter ;p

Been listening to burial for the last two days without opening reason. The most impressive part for me has to be how the lofi crackle interact with the drums.. It's not just layered over the entire beat it sounds...

Random idea...Reverse ducking. Like instead of having how you would with sidechaining where something 'drops' whenever the kick hits, have it do the opposite and only play when the kick hits, give a nice long release on the sidechaining device and you have this bed of lo-fi snap crackle & goodness that only plays when triggered by a drum.ehbrums1 wrote:Been listening to burial for the last two days without opening reason. Could even automate the release on the sidechain to vary the response times over the course of a track.

Oh ho ho. See the thing is, that kid won't learn anything all through high school and I will have to deal with the same shit when he gets to my class ;pehbrums1 wrote:Oh I thought you meant HS, those are the papers I have to edit.. @wub: why the psychedelic rock rant? I'm all for such a rant personally as that's what I grew up on...will try to remind you.
