did someone email him? and got told to fuck off? apologies if so.
like i said, the 3000 is prolly just been sitting there for 3 years. if someone from the true dubstep community contacted him and let him know, there might be a different ending to this story.
just trying to be positive not negative...

Yo. The comment about commercialism was aimed at the person trying to make a load of $$$ out of the popularity of dubstep without actually contributing (if that's what's really going on, caveat caveat etc etc......)seckle wrote:it's not excess commercialism so much as it's hands down the best domain possible for things like an all dubstep online store or an all dubstep 24 hour radio station. both of which would help everyone involved.Jim Beats wrote:What a cock... I doubt anyone serious about the music would be dumb enough to waste their money on this. The longer we can live without excess commercialism in this scene the better, I reckon. When I part with my cash, I want it to go to the people who are doing their bit for the music, not for some cnut who's just out to make some dosh.......
I think what's going on is that somebody (smartly) grabbed the domain a while back. I know for a fact that the guy was involved with the scene at one time and had NO INTENTION WHATSOEVER of making a bunch of fast money off this.
He may have stopped being involved with the music and thus has no idea that this conversation is taking place.
Email addresses do expire - I will do my best to get ahold of him and see what's up.
maybe the $3K will turn out to be a good thing (preventing it from falling into the wrong hands)...

I've got a friend that buys domains as a side business. Basically, he scours the business section of the newspaper looking for up-and-coming companies....checks if they have a website, and if not he registers them.
On the one hand, it *is* a shady practice....but on the other, he's been on quite a few expensive vacations

Some people think they own dubstep, and they have the right to a domain name.
If you buy a domain its yours, and you can do what you like with it.
thanks for the friday laugh...
lol the irony of that statement.seckle wrote: it's not excess commercialism so much as it's hands down the best domain possible for things like an all dubstep online store or an all dubstep 24 hour radio station...
Let's witchhunt everyone else who might have a dubstep-inflected web addy they're not using.. and on a similar vein British Gas the cheeky feckers fancy registering www.house.co.uk I bet Danny Rampling was livid.

Hey homeboy, unpark that mofo blud and sell it to me for 5 nuggets or else I'll register ranjanbalakumaran.com and smother it with pics of Bucks Fizz and kajagoogoo u get me.
Shit it ain't the end of the world really..! It's an unimaginative domain name for a start, especially for an online shop or radio station - what happened to creative licence! Amazon.com, Dogsonacid.com, Jungle.com, Bassdrive.com - imaginative and haven't held them back, in fact probably the opposite (and none of them describe the product except in the abstract), and if a station wants to stand out from the crowd it just has to add the word 'radio' at the end of http://www.llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerych ... gogoch.com and it would have the longest domain name in the world. Eureka. And if you were a store you wouldn't call yourself 'Dubstep' - if the music evolved and (god forbid) changed 'name' (or into several names), you're stuck with a lame goose or floating carcass (eg www.ukgarage.com ) - most sensible people would use their trademark name - not some generic musical definition. But then most people aren't sensible..
