Yeah tbh I ignore stuff that everyone keeps mentioning, Disclosure I never listened too at all and didn't start once they got popular in the mainstream either so have just seen people shift positions on them
they did have like 3 trillion followers on soundcloud tbf when i first even heard of them so i just assumed they were rich boys being bank rolled and paying for followers / plays
but who knows you never know with soundcloud although they do have a load of those generic name followers that seem suspect

this, can't handle white noise but once you loosen up their tunes are good to dance to, I love the Skream b2b Disclosure Boiler Room because it's actually fun and light hearted, compare it to the Loefah b2b Jackmaster set which seemed kind of hostile and a bit boring (despite playing tunes that are recognisable as made in this decade).

a quick look at their followers suggests they do/did, lots of those userxxxxxx and lots people with less than 1 follower, although it's a chicken and egg situation for me, they just sort of appeared within a few months they were everywhere, in every club and on every radio station, so I'm not sure if that's me being blind to it or if it really did just happen.

blah blah blah, boring, Blackdown is always hating on people playing house and techno, parring it off as the boring tech house shit, yeah i understand some people play it very safe and play alll the lame house and shit that evryone loves. You can't tar everyone with the same brush though, there are interesting house and interesting techno DJ's out there playing shit that isnt just 130 BPM dubstep.
I dont see a problem with playing different genres in a set either, Ben UFO is by far one of the most interesting DJ's cos he will play good house, good techno, good '130 BPM', good grime, good dubstep, good funky, good MUSIC and not just stick to, oh, lets say 130 BPM.

disclosure is entry level and completely ballsack-less . i completely agree with blackdown on this. yeah maybe it is good to have something slightly less heinous than david guetta on the radio, but what does that say about their music? they totally played themselves out with that line. they aquiesced their own mediocrity right there.
"what would you rather hear on the radio, "White Noise" or David Guetta?" none of the above LOLLLL i would rather hear something with some substance that doesn't sound like a rehash of 90's dance music that i fucking hated the first time around. i would rather hear something original with some funk and soul in it, not some pop tart whining about nonsense over a totally unoriginal retro house beat. as a matter of fact, i would rather hear nothing at all, which is why i dont listen to the fuckin radio. death to mediocrity apologists i say
on the upside this kind of sugary pop garbage just inspires me to make better music myself so bigup to disclosure

I love Blackdown. Always enjoy his viewpoint whether or not I agree with it.

It's a dayjob. You never worked a job you didn't think much of at a shit fastfood joint or at a meat processing plant? And even if they acknowledge that the music isn't all that, they probably enjoy the job itself. And fair play to them.
I'm not a LOL IT'S ABOUT THAT CASHFLOW MANE type of dude. But music doesn't have to be all romantic like that. They get their shit heard on the radio, travel the world playing shows and working with artists they like (getting remixed by El-B? Fuck) so even if they're not 100% into the music, they have a sweet ass job. Good for them, clearly there's people who enjoy their products and services and keep using them.
I don't like Disclosure, I just don't care for them. But they don't owe it to anyone to make tunes they like. They do what they do and compromise a lot.

why are you going so far out of your way to excuse their mediocre wackness ? jesus . they can make whatever tunes they like i dont give a shit, but im allowed to call them out on being middle of the road and boring, and i think their wording on the guetta quote showed that they dont have much to back anything up

It is funny how so many people were all over them within "our circle" if you will and now they're not due to their popularity...
It's also funny how many people want to do the same as them that haven't been successful in dubstep and be all like "I'm making house" or changing their label to a house label.
Disclosure are kinda like the commercial version of what everyone that doesn't have the broadest knowledge of music that played dubstep thinks house is

I think they're a bit delusional about their music though so can see Blackdowns point. Their Guardian interview with Zed Bias was hilarious.. they claimed they used to listen to stuff like Sweet Like Chocolate and had the cheek to call it 'cheesy chart shit'. Cheesy chart shit. CHEESY. CHART. SHIT. Then continued on to act like they're following a similar path as ZB. They are not.
They seem to think they're a lot more underground than they are... because they aren't at all.

lol i wouldn't take anything they say srs, they would have been about 6 years old when that got released.
established ppl sometimes have to pretend they were about in a certain period to certify themselves.

on topic though, someone should send blackdown some incredible music.
perhaps music listeners will have a choice between guetta and keysound.
