This! Actually looked pretty scary to have about 50 riders bearing down on you. The Eurosport commentator was losing his shit in the last 50 meters.

At times the peloton reminds me of some sort of horrible singular creature compiled from individuals acting as one, then when a team stretches out in a train it's like a tentacle reaching out to suck up the breakaway. 8)

Right, no way radioshack gonna keep that up, they got the par I was expecting today!
Epic sprint to finish as well, is it true Cavendish is now officially ill?

Also Contador is coming... I BELIEVE! (so is Froome! who I actually bet on)

Please tell me someone misses Jan Ullrich!

Fastest time trial ever though. Think they came pretty close to 60km/h :o

Was not expecting Evans and Contador to blow up like they did today. Feeling for Nico Roche as well. Did really well to pull back the group on the descent only to lose them again on the final climb. Will be interesting to see how Fromme deals with having the yellow so early.

woo, just caught up with like 5 days racing today. Really glad to see people having a go at froome, the last stage was fantastic, shame i couldnt see it all live.

my predictions are looking very poor though lol, though schleck was looking good at the front yesterday on the last climb- the leaders will probably let him go so he might get a big win in the alps :corndance:

Been a great tour so far... After Sky blew the pack apart & Froome raced to that 1.30 advantage i thought that was it but to see the whole team struggling the next day blows the whole race apart again. Movistar really didnt take their chances when they had Froome 2 to 1 on his own going up hill. they should have really strung him out. So far I reckon its that Quintana whos looking most threatening! Contador is fucked already struggling up those climbs daily. Just makes me think even more that he is a drug cheat. This is not Cav's tour at all! Sagan has pretty much got the green jersey in his the bag & rightly so I think with all the effort he puts into the other things other than stage wins. Looking forward to seeing what happens on the ITT.

sooo

froome destroys everyone except martin in the time trial. It's great to watch and all such a dominant performance, but i just cant help being a bit disconcerted by it all. He kind of appeared out of nowhere after all in the vuelta two years ago where him and (really obvious doper) cobo smashed established riders like nibali and wiggins and then to be so dominant in the time trial and in the mountains- idk... i cant really get behind him knowing what might come out in the future.

Oh well, at least we should get some great attacking racing in the mountains, lots of people with nothing to lose!

Why is everyone so skeptical of Froome? I understand after today that was a bit 'superhuman' but there doesnt always have to be dope, e.g. Bolt who runs with incredible pace.
For the moment Froome is innocent until proven guilty.

Also Contador may not necessarily be struggling coz he doesnt have dope this year, but more than likely he hasn't been racing that much since the termination of the ban.

on a lighter note lol

well with cycling's history, generally everyone who has appeared superhuman has been too good to be true, at least recently. It's also the fact that he kind of appeared from nowhere, there was no gradual progression from stage winner to white jersey- it was just BAM second in the vuelta. idk, its just i dont want to get burned by supporting this guy.

Contador hasn't ridden a good time trial since being caught which i think is pretty damning as he used to be beating cancellara etc. He won the vuelta last year after the ban so i dont think you can blame lack of racing- just bad form rlly, Kreuziger has been waiting and helping him which doesnt bode well for the alps.

I'm still holding out for rodriguez to smash everyone on Mont Ventoux

I see your point with regards to Froome and I suppose I personally do have some tiny doubts, but as a cycling enthusiast I just want a hero again the same way I used idolize Lance and Jan when I first started following cycling. He didnt really come from nothing as he has been a low level pro from 07 but in terms of stage wins then... yeah I suppose. The thing is this year they are really hot on it so if he is on it I doubt he will be able to get away with it.

I will be surprised if Rodriguez comes through, but he may do and I might even say Schleck could as well ;)

Personally amazed by Quintana (he is a another out of the blue sorta rider) wish he had challenged froome more on that final climb.
At the moment I'm actually enjoying Sagan's dominance of the green, I feel Cav has often battered him and he is proving a big point.

yeah sagan is a great rider, he came somewhere in the top 25 today in the time trial today as well. Another rider who's impressed me too has been kwiatowski- he can climb, tt and sprint, definitely one for the future.

Quintana is only 23- unlike froome who's 28 and he's more a traditional kind of climber- he must only be about 55 kilos, but his tt was pretty bad and his descending before the last hill on stage 8 was terrible lol.

I'm still holding out for andy too haha, next year will be his year- plus he'll have frank back with him!

Putting a cheeky fiver on Kittel for the Champs-Élysées?? Great finish today, dont think Cav saw him though?! Proper weird.

Team Sky looking solid, yea sorta getting impatient for the Alps on sun.

Funnest moment of the day though, when Kittel and Greipel clearly laughing and joking about Cav when he was riding in front of them bout 100km from the end and Cav looked like a sulky child as he clearly knew they were taking the piss outta him in German.

great stage today! woo, sky are looking very weak- only 6 riders 2 of them with serious injuries. Froome is obvs the strongest rider but looks like anyone could isolate him in the alps if not before.
