Re: Girls and music production?
If you wanna talk about this, at least use the search button. Start with "female producer". I'm sure there are a couple of pages about it. We talked about this before. Such a lame topic drag that gets repeated over and over and over. On top of it, I can sense BM's aura lurking, about to rail this shit with a couple pages of youtube videos.

So if a piece of music doesn't sound happy or make you want to dance, that means it's "emo" (ridiculous term)? I really hope that's not how you view music because that's a very narrow minded way to look at music, imo.Icetickle wrote:Ye, sounds happy and refreshing. OPs silliness aside though, why is it this way? Is it that simple that women don't in general like impersonal, techy music? Is it that you have to spend lots of time learning the technical side before you can put a tune out and thus, they aren't interested? I don't want to believe that TBH. Is it a social thing? Women aren't expected to be able to produce etc?
There are doubtlessly some great female producers, DJ Rap, Cooly G, Ikonika, recently Emma, and Laurel Halo, but nowhere near as many as men. Why? You probably hear more female voices on commercial radio than male voices, why is it different in underground music?
Can magma or maybe genevieve come in here and offer a good analysis?

I have not heard of them... They do not exist...
Maybe, just maybe the music you're listening to is made by dudes who spend a lot of time around dudes, and so share it with dudes, which inspires dudes, who are inspired by other dudes.
The internet isn't the end of music.

Bitches are in the kitchen, where they's belong

I think women are generally more valued by society. Men have to work for respect, women just get it for being women. Spiritual/personal growth shit aside, I think there's a social aspect to all that we do and I don't think any musician wants their name associated with something that is sub-par. The need for artistic and creative outlet is probably as strong in both men and women, but men probably feel more compelled to excell at it for that type of acceptance.
