Depends what you mean by making it, I would be extremely happy and feel like it been worth all the effort if i got a release on a decent label/vinyl release and got paid to play a gig somewhere abroad. Both of which are probably possible if i put enough effort in so who knows

Fairly confident I'm going to get all of that. Have you heard music lately?
I mean if you want to make something good that you like and have it released.. that's a different story.

yes this is my tragic flaw too. I could never make a facebook page or a twitter account for my producer name and post 5-10 times per day. I'm just not that kind of person.

This is the solution:

I never expect to make a living off of this. I just hope to be able to put out maybe 1 release or two at some point. Just to have a vinyl, CD, or whatever of my record in my own hands and sell maybe 50-100 copies, or an equivalent number of downloads would be something I'd be very happy with and I think is attainable, but I'm not ready to really promote my stuff. I've come some way from when I started making producing in November but my tunes are lacking right now and aren't all that intricate.

I have a step-brother who releases commercially and was even asked to be a session musician for Lauryn Hill, so hey you never know.

I plan on getting a drum-set and a nice midi keyboard when I land a full time job in my field.

Most random people ever always told me they'd expect me to get signed sooner than later but idunno. My style's unique enough and I have the hook-ups I guess but I feel kind of pressured. But yeah, dunno

I'm thinking of using my free credit hours to begin taking classes in the studio recording program at one of the Unis I'm an adjunct at.
Couldn't hurt, right? Hell, I've been thinking of taking a recording class at the community college. Every little bit of knowledge helps.
I figure it'll either help me confirm what I've been doing is good or give me new ideas. I wouldn't look at either of these as bad thing.

Problem is it's one of those "closed" programs where you can't just pick and choose classes and you have to be in the program to take them. I talked to the director before about auditing (no grade, can't get degree) the classes. He didn't seem stoked.
Go to small underground show, throw it out their that you will engineer or assist engineer for free. People like free. I've engineered a couple albums on the recording side. They almost always hired for mixing but it was still good times to work at the desk.

I don't know, maybe not. I don't know how to find my target audience.

I said yes, but consider it more of a remote possibility than a close reality

I don't think its even relevant, when you go to make a track focused on "making it" you lose focus on whats about in the first place.

People who make it are people who have the passion and drive to be themselves about djing and production in general - focusing on making it makes you focus on those who already have and you miss the formula which is non-existant.

There is no formula for making it - the only barrier is finding yourself creatively and learning enough to make imagination into reality.

of course my horse you can make it. especially now when it's piece a cake to make your tracks public with youtube and fb. and since the audience is not that pretentious about the quality.
i think veteran djs laugh at how easily stars ar born nowdays. bam youtube, vevo all kinda shit and you make $$$$ with one track then retire and let the people ask where the hell that guy. like that french guy or the annoyng chinese one (i forgot their names) did.

except on youtube there are 5000000000000000 other producers you have to compete with who want to do the exact same thing as you

I dunno man this questions far from the first thing on my mind tbh. But then again, that is probably my biggest fault too because I really should be taking advantage of doing something I love

I'm not sure if you're joking, but that's kind of how I look at it. I put a lot of time and effort into making music and as much as I do it for fun, I don't think I'd bother if I didn't expect my hard work to pay off. Also thinking positively about it definitely improves my moral when I'm making a track and makes me more likely to put the extra effort in when I get a bit disillusioned with my current ability.
