Re: Dubstep musician with 'real' day jobs
only know of some dnb producers.
Icicle was studying mechanical engineering before he took off with crit releases and everything. he's left the uni one semester away from graduating but still goes to some lectures now and then. man never had a real day job.
Hybris is an englishteacher (rad as fuck if you ask me).
Mefjus was working as a programmer, delevoping industrial software. he quit his day job a few months after he got signed by Critical, I believe. but maybe he's still working three days a week, dunno...
DLR was/still is (?) working with Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin at Eiger Studios. other than that, I've never seen another guy smoke so much weed and still play Fifa so well.
Enei worked in an office part-time, before he got his first bookings in europe in. guy's getting married this year (22yrs old or sth?).

He ditched it last year.jaydot wrote:Kode9's a uni lecturer innhe?
Nobody mentioned Objekt yet? He holds a dream job of many of you here, Native Instruments. He said somewhere he could afford a living through his DJing alone but he loves the job.

Isn't he a software developer though? Not like his job is just to piss around with NI all day.thekuku wrote:He ditched it last year.jaydot wrote:Kode9's a uni lecturer innhe?

Re: Dubstep musician with 'real' day jobs
Got a feeling most of them will be claiming tax credits to make up for the shortfall, after the dubstep bubble burst in 2011 and the bookings for original music dried up. Can't imagine many royalties coming in for most, especially the ones that now make shit house.

If you're a self employed DJ can you claim back VAT on vinyls?
