Not being flippant, but do you know what it does? It's a pretty unique bit of software.

You're right, I don't really know much about it.

OKay, watched the commercial now on iZotope's webiste and read a bit, looks really cool. Is this the same type of resynthesis as in ImageLine's Harmor?

It will go down to $399. Youll need to come up with the difference for tax (depending on where you live), but if youre trying to go legit, its the best bang for your buck.

Massive and fm8 on there own will cost $400. Not to metion you get absynth, reaktor, kontakt, gr5, solid mix series, battery 4...

Unless you dont think youll ever use any of that stuff, it just makes the most sense.

But if you dont want to go that route, id say Synthmaster (still on sale for $69!), ValhallaRoom ($50 (only reverb youll ever need)), BiFilter2 is great (you can get it for free with an issue of CM ($5 instead of $40)), Maybe The Glue ($99) or (my new favorate) Klaghelm dc8c ($29). Both are great compressers, but the dc8c is more of a jack of all trades. If you need a good eq then EQuick ($99) or if you have more cash left over EQuilibrium or ProQ (both $189).

Really, 399? I didnt even consider komplete, thought it would be like 1000!
Synthmaster looks cool but I don't know... and thanks, I'll be buying that cm issue then, wicked!
Suppose since I have Space Designer i could just do what someone mentioned earlier and get some quality IRs and load them in, wont need Valhalla then, or will I? For compressors, if I dont get komplete and I have money over I think I'll get ProC or maybe the glue then. Hundred bucks is a bit much for a compressor considering the fact that I already have one but well.
Thanks!

that's 267usd, you might want to save it or buy a synth or a plugin you want/need, or buy some good shrooms. I don't know how good the Logic arsenal is. Good luck to you!
Brilliant, thanks for mentioning those freebies as well. What is Oligarc?
Oligarc is a filter, phaser and chorus, has a really nice character though, I use it mainly to make reeses smoother, might not be what you need though, demo it!

Yeah man, K9 ultimate is $1000. K9 new is $499, but you can get it on sale for $399. They usually have there sales in october (right before they announce the new version of komplete).

Space designer is cool from what i hear. And theres lots of really good IR's out there. Im telling you though, if you looking for a great comp that wont break the bank, check out the dc8c. Theres a whole bunch of info on it at kvr. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... =klanghelm

I'm also mixing, like as an engineer so you need that shit. I actually barely do any producing with stuff outside of native Pro Tools, Logic and most importantly Reason.

I can say +1 on Oligarc, it has vibes! Great all in one modulation effect. U-He makes good shit, from the Uhbiks to Zebra2.

Heard Superior Drummer mentioned and forgot about that. Essential bit of kit for me. Your style might dictate otherwise, but if you use organic live sounding jazzy drums and want to be able to process them from raw to finished product, Superior Drummer is amazing. Custom and Vintage pack has nice snares, Allaire has a dope hihat.

Regarding impulses vs algorithmic reverb: live impulses will always sound more realistic but algorithmic reverbs will offer more flexibility. You can shape the impulse to customize it a bit, but ultimately it's a static snapshot. Also, convolution is a very expensive process compared to an algorithmic reverb. Especially with long impulses. Usually an impulse will be used for the early reflections to impart the character of a space, and a standard algorithmic reverb will be used for the long tail. If you start throwing space designers on every track, you're gonna notice heavy cpu load.

holy shit wut? :o $400 for all that? might have to look into this...

also I'd like to add that when you get fm8 for instance, you can also use fm8's effects as an effect plugin. so this might save you money if you're looking for decent effects and you consider fm8's effects to be pretty good.

Yeah that was me. I'm all about drumfills and solos and love the versatility of the drumwork. It's even just great for adding groove behind your one shots too. I just have the free version of EZ Drummer but I'll get Superior eventually
