Re: The Drum'n'Bass Thread
Same could be said for a lot of people, but I think someone like Dbridge who sounds like dnb but could work in almost any setting, will tell you that being in BC is the main reason why he can sound like it does now.Reese Liar wrote:I agree the term is a bit washed out but I usually use it in the sense of "this has a strong(er) dub influence."hubb wrote:I hate the term deep. Especially in dnb where it means: oi! you wont find really good drum programming or new bass sounds here.
Definitely don't agree with the part about drum programming or bass sounds tho, someone like Genotype for example makes some super effective tunes using very few elements but both his programming and sound design are top notch.
You know what I mean?
They went through a lot of 'dirt' experimentation which makes it easy to really focus your stuff later. It's not so much about listening to jazz records.
Same thing with Teebee although his stuff isn't as good today as it was.
Everytime someone says musically or deep, when you talk about drum and bass, they are in my book, kind of admitting that they should look for something else.
I understand the dub influence on account of the whole separation and connection with jungle through time and in that it has similar elements and sound though.
Jungle and african music influences are definitely the reason that jungle is more accesible than dnb. And when dnb then tries to be as accesible, it turns pale.
Like rap metal. It's a bit like when my Grandmother thinks some concervative politician is charming or something.
He might very well be?, but that's not what it should be about.

Re: The Drum'n'Bass Thread
I'm not looking to hijack a thread devoted to one sound, so no I won't. It's obvious what the people in that thread are there for and it's not skrillex, so there's no point in me posting skrillex songs. However, this thread is meant to showcase more than the styles of dnb that you like, but you still felt the need to be loud and clear about what you feel for pendulum, and I still don't see why.Terpit wrote:go and post Skrillex tunes here http://www.dubstepforum.com/forum/viewt ... 1&t=167366

Det er tusen steder å diskutere den typen drum & bass
Her liker de aller fleste totalt andre saker. Å mase om at vi burde akseptere alle typer musikk osv er ikke poenget.

Haha, nah I understood thatwilson wrote:blinkesko you won't win mate!
Second tune there is huge btw!

Re: The Drum'n'Bass Thread

Those two are exactly what I would equate with rap metal, in how it's completely pale/against the point or backwards. Beige fisher price house with a dnb pattern basically. Obviously it's still a part of it.I think dnb is more accessible than jungle, look at RAM and Hospital
Jungle is accesible to people that like african, dub or 70s breakbeat music, and there are more of those people.
There are a lot of mostly drunk UK people that would love a Bryan Addams ballad if it had a think break on top - and when you do that you still call it dnb
