Have had some time to digest the album proper now. Random thoughts...

- One of the things I like the most about it is the imperfections, the grit and wonk and dust and weird angles; so much electronic music is a showcase for superslick sound design where everything is polished and just soooo coool and futuristical or whatever, and then the tune winds up being this highly polished blob with little actually going on, no parts or changes or anything interesting or challenging, just a shiny chrome aerodynamic turd... by contrast, a lot of the sounds on 'Harakiri' are not polished at all - some of them are straight rough-hewn or ugly, and it adds to the greater whole. His songs are like organic devices with lots of weird components that sometimes defy logic and challenge you musically, but they're also alive and have the kind of features that eons of evolution produce naturally that don't make sense to us at first or appear ugly but wind up having an incredibly important role in the development of that species... like the massive deformed noses on elephant seals.

- Curious what his production setup is like... DAW, instruments, sample sources, the usual.

- There's some really unusual & interesting stereo imaging going on - instrument positioning, delay patterns, stuff that you almost don't notice at first that really contributes to the "highly perverse and alive" vibe.

- At first cringed a little at the four on the floor numbers but have come to appreciate them more after a few listens, esp. the ones where he's deconstructing it more than repeating the form.

- Man needs tour. :Q:

Gamechanger.

I whistle 'Great God Pan' all the time. Can't remember the last time I got a tune stuck in my head like that, and it's funny considering how abrasive the the rest of the sounds in the tune are.

The song "Meshes" samples this crazy experimental film, might even inspire it a bit. Some cool camerawork and editing, plus creepiness.
