I love of shoegaze, dream pop and predecessors and related: Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, loveliescrushing, This Mortal Coil, Helios, Cocteau Twins, The Jesus and Mary Jane, The Telescopes, Mazzy Star.

Also love post rock stuff like Godspeed You Black Emperor and other projects, Mogwai, Codeine.

Needs more SIANspheric and Catherine Wheel. Maybe some Asobi Seksu too. I'd like to recommend belong - October Language 'cause it kinda fits the shoegaze/noisepop thing you've entitled this thread.

I'm massive on Post Rock though.

If you like Slowdive (and I love them), you should check out Boy in Static: http://www.myspace.com/boyinstatic

well Godspeed is post rock.. MBV is shoegaze.... if you're giving it all names

different vibes, both often use lots of effects and can crossover..

youll find Shoegaze stuff is often "rock" songstructures apart from the real ambient stuff, whereas post rock is 40 minute songs ;)

nice one on the Mazzy Star mention. Good stuff.

SILKWORM - mainly the Joel RL Phelps era ('91 - '95), or Joel RL Phelps and The Downer Trio for his more recent music. Joel has alway had a sense of honesty to his music. I'm down. Been listening to early Silkworm again this week.

Rachel's - was anyone into this? Originally a RODAN related project feat. Jason Noble on bass/guitar, and an assortment of classical / indie musicians & producers that appeared on the various resulting releases over the years. Pretty interesting project at the time considering the huge contrast between the post hardcore sounds from Rodan, and the minimal classical leanings of the early Rachel's stuff. "Handwriting", "Music for Egon Schiele", "The Sea and The Bells", etc. were the early albums, on Quarterstick Records circa ' 95/'96. They later incoroporated some electronics in the mix, samplers, synths, etc. Worth a listen.

MINUS THE BEAR - any BOTCH fans here? :D - the math/metalcore band from Tacoma, Washington in the states. When that ended, the guitarist started Minus the Bear, the furthest you can get from playing guitar in a metalcore band, ha. I remember when they would appear on hardcore bills "featuring ex Botch, Kill Sadie members!!" etc. Dumbfounded hardcore kids. Some interesting stuff. Not "slowcore" per se, but mellow for sure. You can include this in the other "indie/punk thread" too i guess. Toe tappin tunes, including electronic noodling, glitchy elements at times.
