Re: Boomtown 2014
Yeah id camp downtown if youre predominantly after seeing the more electronic/heavier acts.
Basically theres a fucking long & steep hill seperating the two main sections, up the hill is the main stage, the Lions Den (which hosts all the reggae headliners) and the electro swing/baiter music/chilled areas.
Down the hill is where ALL of the dubstep/D&B/brock out type stuff is and is generally more mental for longer. Also had all the best food stalls down there + the Hidden Woods which is imo the best stage there: Dubkasm, Resonators, Prince Fatty etc murdered it & its under wooded cover (not as hot!) & fat sound!
But yeah there is an absurd amount of crustys/pastafarians/k-zombies but still enjoyed it last year. Jah Shaka Soundsystem street party was>>>>

You either die a young, close minded, cynical hater or live long enough to enjoy life and variety....

It's a festival in a field with loads of music and loads of people, what's not to like? You find k-heads at pretty much every festival and night.

Apparently St. Andrews park has been reformed! Will see if it has any lasting effects doe. I love that place, went there as a kid.
In all fairness Boomtown is renowned as the messiest local festival and certainly draws a higher proportion of the crusty crew, but it's supposedly a lot of fun. I played at the very first one, when it was called Recydrate the West and had a fucking blast, but that was a one field and a couple of stages affair.

Re: Boomtown 2014
I've never been to one before so I don't know how good it is.
But it's got Reggae, Dub, Ska, Punk, Folk, Rock, Grime, Garage, Dubstep, Drum N' Bass, House...To be honest it's pretty much got everything short of Classical for everyone which might explain it's popularity.
Can you give some examples of better festivals? I'm genuinely interested.
