I hadn't ever even heard about anyone called Commodo until I went to awards few days ago and saw him nominated in many categories.CreamLord wrote:Oh yeah_Agu_ wrote:Lambeth was on the nominated for the best track at least I think.CreamLord wrote:Was burial even nominated for anything this year

Since I'm into og-dubstep aka stuff like Burial, Vex'd, Mala, Distance, but at the same time i'm into brostep (or more like was, since everybody went to shitty edm trap), drum & bass (neuro, liquid, jump up), hardstyle, rock, rap/hip-hop, metal etc. it's pretty hard to keep track of everything, especially, when you have to hack your way through thick masses of shit these days.jrkhnds wrote:how can you be into dubstep and not know about Commodo?
like half the stuff u just described?_Agu_ wrote:especially, when you have to hack your way through thick masses of shit

Well what is shit depends on your taste. I don't consider all tracks that have rich midrange content or more loudness than usual as shit. I'm just not that interested in music with no variation, no melodies, no musical content, no matter how vibey, deep, heavy, tearing, sick, bassy, dirty blablabla it is.dickman69 wrote:like half the stuff u just described?_Agu_ wrote:especially, when you have to hack your way through thick masses of shit

thank you. definitely lots of things to think about for next time, and we should be more prepared and do it as best we can. more nominations would have solved many of these problems. for example with the "Best Dub" category, I think I only had 7 nominations, and only two of them were mentioned twice. So I could have said "we're only taking nominations that have more than one mention", but this would result in only two choices, and since I had 7 total, which one should I have deleted? Seems unfair to just arbitrarily pick one. There were a lot of instances where I made judgment calls like that.jrkhnds wrote:I think a banner at the top (that Phrex plate has been sold out for months now...) would've helped. also, I was under the impression everybody could nominate just one act / tune / instance per category; would've gone a bit crazier on the name-dropping else. also, maybe next time limit nominees to, I don't know, 6 entries per category, but have 6 in every single one? I know it may be hard, expecially regarding new producers, radiostations etc., and if the nominations ain't coming in... the awards last year were a bit shit in that regard, loads of people who would've deserved better didn't even get nominated because we just forgot about them (I'm under the impression nominations were only possible for maybe a week?).
also, there are far too many categories... maybe we should tone it down again a bit? could do without all the 160-180 categories imho. these guys have large enough platforms elsewhere.
anyway, big up Jags and Pete for setting this thing up!
